Should I be worrying?
We leave for our cruise in three weeks and my son has influenza. I took him back to the dr. today because his fever has lasted a week so far and I was concerned. I was told there was nothing to worry about right now, but that his cough could last "for weeks." I am sure that he will be better by the cruise fever-wise, but do I need to worry about the cough if it still continues? Surprisingly, no one else in the family has gotten it yet and we have been exposed to it more than the 4-day incubation period, so I am hoping we are in the clear.
I hope I am just over-worrying. Getting sick and not being able to board has been a huge stress for me ever since planning the cruise. |

No. You need to worry about vomiting and diarrhea. Those are the questions asked on the health form at port.

If you feel he is OK then answer that way on the form regardless of what the question is and don't worry about it.

My 2 older kids and I had the flu a couple weeks ago, aside from me still having a tiny cough once in awhile, we're totally over it. We got through it pretty quick luckily. Felt like total crap for a week...it was horrible. So I'm guessing your son will be ok 3 weeks from now. Just keep watching him, taking his temp and making him drink plenty of fluids, that's all we ever do when we get sick. Hope he's better soon!
