Other Hotel Towns close to Disney

Our family usually stays in Kissimmee the week after Christmas, but I'm afraid we waited too long to book our usual hotel. Now, we are having difficulty finding a hotel with strong user reviews (4/5 or more) but that is not $150 a night after fees.

Besides Kissimmee, are there other towns I can search in for hotels that are good to stay at during a Disney vacation, that may be a bit further away, but would then be less expensive?

I guess our main criteria would be:
--- a town no more than 20-25 minutes to the parks
--- a safe town
--- a good route to the parks without heavy traffic congestion

Thanks for your help!

You can search in Lake Buena Vista or Celebration. Do you mind sharing what your regular hotel is?

Our normal place is Galleria Palms in Kissimmee. I'd probably rate it as a ** 1/2 star hotel. Last year, we paid under $100 per night for Xmas week (after fees and taxes). This year, the cheapest they have -- for one king bed, no suite or anything -- is about 40% more than last year.

We don't need any hotel services as we spend all day in the parks. What we value are cleanliness, safety, and a reasonable price given that we'll hardly be there. Plus, of course, relatively easy access to Disney, even if it means driving 20 minutes.

That's a great location! Have you considered renting a condo in that area? There may be some owners who are willing to rent for less than $100 per day. Check out http://**************************/ . You might also want to start a thread over on the Orlando board. We are renting a whole 4-bedroom house (not in Windsor Hills, but close by) the week before for only $800 all-in.
