what's on your banister

So, I usually decorate our banister for Christmas with a garland, white lights, pine cones, other doodads. I would like to make a change for next year but not sure what to do. I was thinking I could get the stuff now because heaven knows I won't get it in time to actually do it next year. I looked at the ornament garland at Target but really didn't like it.

Just looking to change things up a little. This year, I put decorations in different places in the house. Same decorations I have used for years, but I have noticed and enjoyed them more since they are in different places.

So what do you do? Any new ideas. Thanks.

Cat scratches, because my cat thinks it's easier to use the banister than the stairs. Needless to say, I don't decorate the banister anymore. LOL

I don't have anything on the banister that you hold as you go up or down the stairs, but at the top, overlooking the entry I have pine garland with a wreath in the middle.

I just have greenery and red bows. Are you on Pinterest? I am sure you could find lots of ideas there.

Fake evergreen garland. We hang our stockings from the garland, although we haven't put them up yet.

Christmas cards and a light up Santa Mickey are tied to our balusters.

I tie the cards on as we get them.

Green garland and little gold bows on the spindles. There is a big cream/gold bow on the front - partly to keep the kids from throwing their coats on top of it!

In past years I hung garland decorated with lights and bows. This year, I hung an ornament from a thin ribbon between every other spindle. It's very simple and I think I like it better.

My cat. yup Lola cat decided to lay on top of the upstairs banister. She's crazy.

I used to put up lights and garland but quit doing that a few years ago.
