We looked at some of the Galveston sailings (as we have long flights either way), and although the cruise fares were better, flights and transfers were ridiculous. If you aren't from Texas (or very near) Galveston is not a cost-effective port. I hope they will try Los Angeles again.

We are so disappointed. We were ready to sail again in 2014, but will be canceling our dummy date now. Guess it's back to RC for us.

"based on guest demand for more options out of Port Canaveral."

...surely they are joking? OPTIONS, Disney, not more ships.

I totally agree, however our flight we paid on airmiles and it was way cheaper airmiles to Glaveston then Florida.

To be honest I'm surprised that they can sell out of sailings in Florida when it's sooo expensive for people on the west coast to get there.

Right now this sailing out of Galvenston for us will probably be our first and last Disney Cruise for a long time!

THere are only so many ports that can be reached from PC. If you want other ports, you have to sail out of other places. People identify DIsney Cruise Line with WDW, so PC is the smartest place for them to be. DCL is going to sail where they cn fill the ships and make money. If that means 4 ships in PC, so be it.

I think it's more options due to more people wanting to do parks and cruise vacations.

Fly to orlando, go to the parks, cruise, come back... two weeks vacation...

I know there are many of us that prefer the classic ships. Right now all you can sail out of PC is the newer ships. Maybe that is what they were meaning..

Either way we love the Magic returning to PC.

The association with Disneyland would have worked had they offered shorter cruises than 7 nights. The speed with which the single 2-nighter sold out proved that. Even die-hard passholders have a hard time shelling out Disney prices for a 7 night cruise when most of them had never sailed on the line before. They should have alternated between the 7-nights and shorter cruises to make people wiling to get on the ship and try it. Not to mention better promotion; I talked to SO MANY people, Disney fans like me, who had no idea she was here.

When was the 2 nighter? I live in southern CA, frequent DL regularly and have never seen a local ad. I started seeing TV ads just last year. Would have loved the 2 nighter!

It was between the arrival of the Wonder via the PC cruise and the first MR. January 21-23 2011.

The 2-nighter was the first cruise they did when they came to LA (before the first MR cruise) in January 2011. If I was not already researching Dream cruises, I would never have known about it either. We did that one along with an MR and a Pacific Coast cruise while the Wonder was here. And I would do more if they would come back.

I posted the same thing on another thread. This area (I'm really close to the port) is plastered with advertisements for Disneyland but I only recall seeing one billboard for the Wonder. Even the TV commercials that I have seen were for the Dream.

No one that I talked to about our cruises (outside of my message boards friends) even knew the Wonder was here. With the large number of local Disneyland APs here, you would think there would be at least one advertisement for the Wonder at Disneyland. But no, the only thing I ever saw there was the Dream or Fantasy at the DVC kiosks. No advertising at all for a ship that was docked just 30 minutes drive away

We live about 5-6 hours (driving) from Galveston, and the super cheap fares in February have enabled us to book a "bonus" cruise! We sailed the Dream in June 2012 and didn't anticipate sailing again until 2014. We are sailing the Magic out of Galveston this Feb, 4-nights, for $1500 for our family of 5. That was too good of a deal to pass up! And no flights to buy!
