Door Magnet thief

Hi first time using this board Was on Dream 12/2. Was having fun decorating my door only to find one afternoon when I got back to room all my magnets were gone. I couldn.t believe someone would do that. My room host who was so nice was upset too. I just found it sad that someone would do that. They weren't even that special as some of the pics I have seen of doors.

I feel you! Someone took mine on our first cruise. I didn't decorate for the 2nd and won't for the next one either.

Look a few doors down next time and you may find them. Kids will move them around. Happened to us, but they were 4-5 doors down. I know they were ours as I made them all and put our name on the back.

Yes, there are bad people out there.

And, in my opinion, even just removing the magnets to place on another door is still stealing.

I wouldn't let it deter you. On all but our first cruise (when I didn't know about it) I've decorated our doors, some cruises more than just one when we had a larger group. We've had 2 magnets go missing in all those decorations. One I'm pretty sure was stolen, the other I think fell off the door because sometimes the little ones didn't stick that well.

I'm still decorating doors, I just put our names & room number in a prominent location on the ones I'd like to keep (so if someone were to try to cut it out or cover over it it would ruin the magnet). The ones that I don't put our info on, I don't worry about it - I look at it as spreading the magic (even if they are bad guys).

Beyond that, any that go missing that I really like, I can reprint once I'm home.

So sorry to hear that happened.

We just sailed for the first time with a group of 4 staterooms and I made magnets for each of our doors and we were lucky enough (I guess) not to lose any of them. Were they personalized on the front? I made sure we had our name(s) on the front figuring no one would want something that they couldn't pass off as their own.

I walked around on our cruise just to see what other people put on their doors. Took pictures and everything! It's another way that Disney sets themselves apart from the other lines. I love the whimsy and creativity!

It's such a shame because I know first hand all of the hardwork that goes into creating some lovely artwork for your door. Try personalizing the front next time. Don't be discouraged!

There was one room near the elevators(so we seen it alot) and everyday they had a complete theme going on. Halloween, Christmas, etc. It was crazy how many and the time it took just to put them up never mind make them.

Ours got rearranged a little our second time decorating, but only the downlow ones, so I'm guessing little kids. I wouldn't mind so much. It's kind of like putting up yard decorations in that way.
Either you decide to do it and risk that other's may take them or you just don't.
It wouldn't ruin my vacation, they pretty much are for fun no skin off my back.

I'm sorry yours got taken, though.

That's smart to just look "down the row" a few...this will be our first cruise and I've seen so many great ideas I just don't know what to do on our door??? Any ideas for a Jan sailing on the Dream???

We were on the 10/8/11 Eastern Magic and one night a row of cabins on deck 6 and 7 including ours had their magnets stolen. Some were very nice. We got a group of DISsers from all the cabins hit in the morning and raised a fuss at guest services. The hallways have cameras and no matter what GS says DCL can track who stole them. Later that day officers came to all our tables at dinner and returned the magnets and if any were still missing to go to guest services to claim. The officers were very nice and apologized for what happened. We were grateful to get our magnets back. The officers would not tell us where they were found so we'll never know how DCL found them. Moral of the story is not stand for it and tell guest services.

I've been lucky on all of our cruises. I do take the attitude that if they do get stolen, so be it. DCL is very nice to let us decorate. I don't expect them to chase them down if stolen. The privilege will get taken away if people start complaining about the theft of a magnet or two.

We print our own magnets, and if they disappear, no biggie. They really didn't cost that much to begin with. We do have our names printed (in Disney logo) on the front of a lot of them.

Hope they used them and didn't just trash 'em, at least. Know your art is being appreciated. We embed our names IN the pictures... if someone takes 'em and looks at the sand, closely, later, they see our names as if they were scratched in the sand. Do the same with the water, etc.

We put supper heavy duty magnets on our decorations. It is was so funny. I was walking down the aisle and saw this little guy hanging from the pirate sword made out of wood that said Disney 2012. He wasn't heavy enough to lift it off the door. I had extra swords in my cabin, wrapped one up, and escorted him back to his mom and dad. I explained what happened and wished them a great rest of their cruise. I have no idea what his parents did, but I am sure he got a good what for from his parents. His dad looked a bit upset but I didn't want to ruin their special time together.
