I unfriend people yes, I only add people I know & this one girl I went to school with & hadn't seen her for like 20 years and I didn't like her posts they were crude & rude all the time so I unfiended her, basically if I don't want to be your friend in real life I won't be a friend on Facebook!

Yep. There are lots of reasons why I have unfriended someone. I won't "dump" someone over just anything but if I feel they need to go, they are gone!

I have a lot of people on hide. I do go every once and a while and check their pages I just can't stand the play by play of football games, etc.

I only have around 50 friends on FB, so I've never deleted anyone. I need all the friends I can get, LOL.

I'm always surprised when I read on here how people seem to think being a friend on facebook carries some sort of responsibility.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It reminds me of the Christmas letter threads where people say "if I haven't seen you in a year I don't want to know what your kids are doing or look like."
This is how I operate. There are maybe 25 ppl who I regularly communicate with on FB. The rest are people I know. Many are hidden, I don't need to see them in my daily newsfeed but I do want to have an easy way to get in contact with them so we are "friends."

My mom doesn't do this a lot but my dad does, SO annoying. It's on FB. Read it. Don't call to 'discuss' it or whatever. It is on FB so you'd know you don't need to call to ask about it. UGH. Can't deal with that AT ALL. My mom does that with Twitter. I think she's finally figured out that 1/2 my stuff is funny. People 'get' that, it is a huge part of what twitter is about.

Nope, I don't go through them, though I was tempted to hide a few during elections. Everyone on there is someone I know fairly well and like to see post. I don't keep hundreds of people on my FB anyway.

I don't use FB a lot but have unfriended one person. It was an instructor of mine at Grad school who encouraged us all to be FB friends to "help with communication". She pressured us all into doing it and I think she just wanted to be nosy about each of us. As soon as I was done with her class (knew I wasn't taking another one from her) I couldn't unfriend her fast enough. I have, however, blocked several people's posts from my feeds. I LOVE hearing the highlights of my friends lives but not their every waking thought.

I have FB because I am required to for work. So there are people I have never met on my friends list, but that I have some sort of work relationship with (deal with them on the phone, etc).

To be honest, my real friends who are friends on FB found me. I know some have a personal and a professional FB page but at this point, that would be a waste of time to me.

Has been interesting however to find that some of my FB friends know each other from past lives and past cities.

I did a big clean up at the beginning of the year. I stopped playing a game that required lots of friends so I delete those friends. At the same time, I went through and got rid of people I didn't know IRL but connected with because I knew them from now defunct message boards.

I don't care about being connected to people I have/had real friendships with such as former classmates. Even though they aren't friends now, it's nice to know they are doing well and seeing current updates & pictures.
