If everyone is exchanging gifts, then yea, I would get her a little something. A card with a dunkin donut, starbucks, or itunes giftcard. Or a candle?

I'm having the same issue with DS16's GF. I've met her but I want to get her something for Xmas (she's coming to the family party) but all I'm getting is I don't know or a gift card from Bath and Body Works.
I want something more than a gift card!

A fashion scarf is nice, or if she wears makeup a nice makeup set (sephora.com has some great sets right now) ??

I managed to squeeze out of DS that her favorite color is turquoise. I did see a gorgeous infinity scarf at whole foods in turquoise a few weeks ago. I might get that.

Wow - just saw this update. So many of us got swept into this story - myself included.

Came home late from work today and DH and DS had finished decorating the house AND put the boxes away. What a treat that was.

I SWEAR I'm the real deal. What you see (read) is what you get!

(Just having fun with you.... )

I never read the entire thread. Checked out a post or two early on and read the ending after it was closed to see what happened. Sorry she sucked in so many people and I hope no one was hurt by it.

As for Christmas, I am so NOT ready. But I'll get there once finals week is over.
Read the thread and thought something was up.... btw... my first was 9 days early, second the day after her due date and the last was 2 weeks late...

The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem. Do you underastand?

Q..... when they "get rid" of someone for stuff like this do they watch for the same IP in the future and keep track or deny setting up a new username? I guess until reading this I never put much into how much work moderating could be.

Had a "friend" on facebook that was like the poster in question. First she has custody of two of her grandkids and is living in NC, while the other two grandkids are with the mother living in FL. Then all of a sudden overnight trip to FL and back to get the other two grandkids because mom said they needed to go, the father was trying to hurt them.
Followed by kids have no clothes, had to pick them up at the gas station not even extra diapers, all kinds of stuff was sent, paypal money, gift cards, people were buying stuff and having it shipped through amazon to her.
Then a month later, mom comes and gets the two kids, leaves the older two.
A month later the "friends" 20 yo son passes away from some congenital think he had going on... no money for funeral or anything... outpouring of money again from everyone.
Now she has the two younger grandkids yet again... mom is on her way to jail.
This is all just this year.... last year she had plastic surgery two different times, and had a lap band placed over the gastric bypass she had 8 years ago... all because she wanted to lose 25 more lbs. She has to have surgery on her bowel for an issue but has no insurance, so she goes to Mexico for the plastics and the band, which is now causing her issues and she doesn't want to admit it.
How is she paying for this crap? Student loans... she is almost 45, taking classes because as long as she is in school she gets loan/grant money, doesn't have to work and can keep bringing in money.
I finally hit my breaking point hearing all this crap when she posted that her other son is giving the 5 year old is nintendo dsi and what games would be good for him... last count there were about 20 people sending her games for him, and stuff for the other kids as well.
Her husband works his *** off all the time, mostly out of town to make more money, and now all of a sudden after just buying a home in NC that his father co-signed, she has it up her butt to move to KS where they are buying a house in January... um... how? Oh yeah... financial aid checks come out end of January again...
Like I said I finally called her out, in a private message, she "unfriended" and blocked me, on one name... I guess she forgot I have two facebook accounts, one for weight loss support and one for my regular friends.

I was duped as well. Oh well. Chalk me up to naive and gullible. I'd rather be this way, although I do have a situational pessimistic side sometimes.

Christmas? Well, DH has been out of work for 4 weeks (extremely rare, as in this has never happened since we were married). We have a rent house and the tenant bailed on us with no notice at the end of November. This was right after she tore up the garbage disposal in the house, which is strange because we don't think she actually lived in the house. ANYWAY, all of that to make this point: we have no extra money to Christmas shop with right now.

Thankfully, I got DD and DS a couple of presents each a few months ago (and they are good presents that the kids really wanted). DH is working again, but we still don't have a tenant. I know we will be fine, but it really bums me out that I can't just go Christmas shopping like I normally do. This is our first Christmas in a new house, and I would love to add some new decorations. I enjoy shopping for the kids too, especially since they don't ask for lots of toys or gadgets throughout the year. I get paid once at the end of each month. This month, it falls right before Christmas, so I'll be storming the malls with all the other last-minute shoppers.

Oh, but DH did get a paycheck today, so we went and bought a tree. I think that will make the kids and I feel a little better. I'm going to use my iTunes credit to buy some new Christmas music to play while we decorate and work on cookies.

Wouldn't do a candle as there could be scent issues. I think the scarf idea was great, or a gift card for somewhere. Ask brother what kind of phone she has, if iPhone get an iTunes card, if android get a google play card.

I have to say only get them iTunes if you know they have an iTunes account. I have the Samsung Galaxy 3 and they have GooglePlay cards out now.

I didn't think about that. I'll ask my brother if he knows about her and candles. Scarves are good too (I only know because her fb pic is her in a scarf :P) - I could get her one from here I suppose! I was planning to get some for my aunts, so one more to the pile isn't bad
