Spin-off: Quick dinner help...I'm an idiot

What people will and won't eat got me thinking. Would you eat pasta if you boiled the water, poured the dry pasta in, and saw bugs ( those bugs that can get into pasta, flour, sugar etc.) float to the top? You are boiling the pasta after all

Oh, I would and I just did

The way I figure it I have eaten worse at a restaurant without even knowing.

Yeah, no, wouldn't do it. Blech.

But it does remind me of something my granny used to say, "A flea in the cabbage is better than no meat at all."

To be honest, I really don't know what kind of bug you're talking about, but the thought of any bug, or it's shell, being in my food is just gross. Now I'm going to have to examine my pasta and grains before I eat them!

If you pour the pasta in water to boil, they will float and you will see them you can't miss them. maybe it is some kind of weevil? Somebody who cooks a lot might know.

Geez, now I'm going to check for floating bugs! thanks for the tip!

This reminds me of those awful silver fish things that somehow use to get into our pots when I lived with a room mate. I have always washed a pot out since.. Gives me chills just thinking of those things with all those legs...lol
