Deck 10 on Fantasy - Is the noise from deck 11 bad?
I've read mixed reviews. We just booked mid ship deck 10 and our sons will be 4 1/2, 3 1/2 and 18 months. We do travel with a white noise machine to block out the noise outside the room (and the boys use them at home). As long as it is not loud enough to wake the kids I don't really care. Anyone have experience on with a room on deck 10?
Thanks!

I noticed the noise more around 5 pm if they were doing a party or something. It was only for a short time and didn't bother me at all. I didn't notice at night at all, and I'm a light sleeper.
I liked deck 10 as it was so easy to go up for parties and food. We were just down the hall from the main stairs and used them all the time. Nancy |

I'll be on deck 10 in 2 days!
I've also read about the noise concerns however deck 10 was the only choice since it was a military discount I used (my Mom is a retired military spouse) and the discount far outweighed the deck ![]() We will make the best of it and Ill be able to let you know afterwards. Heather

I had room 10580 on the dream. I could hear deck chairs being moved around in the early morning and sometimes heavy foot traffic. But being a mom I heard the noise and of course the rest of the family slept and never heard anything. I traveled w dh and 3 boys ages 10,6,2. The noise wouldn't stop me from booking that room again.

We had 10662 on the Dream and at no time did I ever notice noise. Nobody in our group was bothered by noise while sleeping.
It's a great location... unless you're a teen going to the teen lounge which is on the other end of the ship.

I noticed the noise and won't pick that floor again. It was a great location to get to the pool deck, but late at night they drag the chairs around and then clean. Early am - 5:30-6 they put them out again! I am a light sleeper so it bothered me. I recommend ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

I agree with what others have said. We had 10534 on the Fantasy and it was definitely the noisiest cabin I've ever stayed in. I woke up every morning from the deck chairs and other noises. Good news was the baby is a light sleeper and it didn't wake him.
If given the choice, I wouldn't book that floor again but we did have a VGT rate and that's what was assigned. But, on the same token I would book a VGT again knowing we might possibly get on the 10th floor again. It's an ok trade off for the lower price. Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

we were in 10554 on the 8/18 WC and the noise was consistently bothersome, most specifically in the early morning hours when the staff would drag chairs and other things around the pool deck to get ready for the day....i would invariably be awoken at 7AM every morning....it didn't bother us at night but then again we were not back in the room until 11:30 PMish...
we booked a cruise for next August and i booked a 9th deck room....the CM at the reservations desk admitted the noise filtering into 10th deck rooms is an issue and they receive a lot of complaints (there are a number of threads about it on this forum).... Quote:

Most of the earplugs don't work well. The wax ones are horrible. If u go to cvs or Walgreens, they have foam plugs with different ratings. One is pink and one is purple nick the highest protection. Then you have to roll them between your fingers to make them smaller and immediately put in ear. It will feel slightly uncomfortable like it is in too far. That is ok. After you get it, the foam will expand and block the noise. Sometimes it is easier to flatten then twist to get it small enough to go in. I use them often and if you get it in the right place it will work. Sometimes it takes several tries to get them in right. It drowns out all excess notice but I can hear some things like an alarm or someone speaking very loud.

We were just on Deck 10 on the Dream and I didn't think it was that bad. We've had noisier people tromping and jumping in the cabins above us on Decks 6 - 9. The most noise we heard was actually from people outside on their verandas. I downloaded a sound machine app on my i-phone and that did help!

Well, it really did not bother us, and we were right under the ice cream area on the Fantasy. There was a slight bit of shade at times out on the verandah from the overhang above, which I think was kind of nice. I suppose I did notice a little noise at night like a crew members footsteps late at night, but really, you wold have to be kind of sensitive about it to make a real difference. The access to the pool deck was great of course.
What I don't get, is that that deck is more $$ than the others. |
