There Now! Live Trip Report - Magic Kingdom Tonight! - The DIS Discussion Forums

Ok, not yet...but let's get some excitement going here people! The plane's leaving in 2 days and have we even started packing yet? (the answer is no, we haven't!)

Who:
Me (aka: Dad - a self described Disney Geek),
Tiff (aka: Mom - Having never been to Disney before I came into her life...this will now be her 4th trip),
Lilly (Aka: The Diva, aged 2.2 going on 12...not counting time in utero, this is her 2nd).
That's it. No extra family, no extra friends, no cats, dogs, etc....just the family for a much needed Disney getaway!

When: 12/8 thru 12/15

Where: Staying at Old Key West

Why: Does one really need a reason to go to Disney??? However, having just been there in April (and had an excellent, wonderful time with Family), I didn't think we'd get back again for awhile. You see, we're expecting our second spawn this June....and while I love disney....I don't think I'd subject the family to a 3yo and a newborn at the same time! Lo and behold, the wife surprised me with a "Since we might not get back next year, why don't we go back in December, if we ca-"...I was already on the member services website booking the room before she finished the sentence.

I have not been down for christmas in 10 years? My wife has never been down there for Christmas. And knowing how much joy it brought my daughter when she was 1.5, it can only get better, right?? We'll find out!

How: iPhone updates. As much as the wife will put up with me snapping pictures and uploading, I'll do it. I've never written a trip report before, let alone a "live report", so we'll give it a shot.

What to expect: We've got Christmas Party Tickets (tues), Mickey's BYBBQ (thurs), a first Haircut at Harmony Barbershop (Tues), Ashkerhaus (Jasmine....

), etc, etc.

Everyone on board? Let's go!

Tried out Colonial Airport Parking at PHL for the first time. Excellent. Easy to get to, fast, friendly shuttle service. 25 mins from car to gate this morning. Now we're just waiting to board.

So we're checked in. Not to excited about the room. 3rd Floor, view of the highway. Never had a bad room at OKW before, but I guess there's always a first.

The Diva is tres chic!

I hope the room works out okay. If the resort is not full, maybe you could request another room(?) At least ask them what else is available; you never know.

It's drizzling rain where we live. Hope you've got good weather in The World!

Just back from DTD and dinner at Wolfgang Puck Cafe. After a slow start (they never told the server we were there or something), she quickly made up for it with excellent service...including calming down the Diva when she was having a very, very rare meltdown. I had the Salmon and my wife had the Dynamite roll. Both were excellent! We ordered the Mac and cheese for Lilly, but started to cry, which lead to the meltdown when it was delivered. Not sure why, except that it didn't "look" like the Mac n cheese se's used to, lol. Ugh. Luckily, the server happened by, and got Lillys attention with a pair of chop sticks by showing her how to use them (with the clip thingy) and she was smiles from then on. Whew!

As for the room...I took a trip to the front desk and inquired about any 1st floor 1 bedrooms that might be open and if we could switch tomorrow. I guess there was some issue with operations not being able to approve it until Monday, but the manager on duty said its not a problem. Another crisis averted. Once we're out I'll post a pic of the "view" and room number. Lol.

So tomorrow might be another "no nap day" for the Diva. Seeing as how we need to check out by 11, and the new room won't be Ready until 4....well, we'll see!
