We just got assigned our state room!
Probably a newbie question, but we were just assigned our stateroom number! (so excited!) When I booked it was a GTY in Category 4A. I tried to search our room number here and on DCL website, but nothing came up here, other then posts for other DCL ships.
When I search on DCL website it gives us 6 possibilities on the 8th deck. Does this mean that it is one of these rooms on the 8th deck? I am trying to make sense of what the categories mean. I know there are cat A-D, and A is the best category? Regardless of the room, it doesn't matter that much where we sleep, this is our first cruise and we are excited to be going! |

When you book GTY you don't get your stateroom number until a week or 2 before you cruise - you are just guarenteed your level (4A) or higher

I logged into to look at our reservations and its changed from GTY to an actual room #. Does this mean it could change?
Still trying to figure out the category thing ![]() |

GTY Rooms are typically assigned more like 30 days in advance. the IGT/OGT/VGT are more like 7-14 days.
What is your room number? It most likely won't change at this point! |

ETA: Even if you are upgraded to a higher category, when you book a GTY room your originallly booked category will show up on your reservation. This is so that if they have to move you after you are upgraded they know which category you need to be placed in at a minimum.

8558 is a 4A on the Magic. It is located Starboard [the right side of the page you are looking at on the plan ] midship . Here is a link to the deck plans.

When are you sailing? Interesting to see how early people get assigned gty rooms.
