You could find this anywhere when I lived in Florida but I moved to Virginia in 2010 and I haven't seen it up here either.
As far as finding it in January I would think it might be a little harder since watermelon is a summer crop. There is usually a little bit of watermelon still available but it is not as sweet.

I grew up eating yellow watermelons in Texas, but they have been hard to find for years. If I found one, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. My parents always kept an eye out for them, saying they were sweeter than the red ones. Roadside stands were where we found them. When we change houses, we are talking about putting in a small raised garden for growing produce. Maybe I will get some seeds and grow my own..........

Good luck finding one!

We have them here in TN and I actually liked them better than regular watermelons. I thought it was sweeter and smoother texture. Good luck.

I bought one here in Central Texas this past summer on accident. We cut it open and were totally shocked to find yellow. We had never heard of or seen a yellow watermelon. We actually googled it before we would eat it

Personally, I didn't like it. I did not find it nearly as sweet and the texture was more spongy than crisp

I have only seen yellow flesh watermelon during the summer. But your best bet at finding some while in Florida is Publix grocery store. Just call them before you make a trip to the store.

yellow watermelon is very common in asian countries. I suggest try an asian grocery store... Its winter now though, watermelon is a summer fruit, id wait until then...

i prefer red, i find it juicier imo. When i go to Taiwan(yearly) all they have is yellow watermelon there...

They are also smaller in size too.

We get yellow watermelon is Australia too. It's an heirloom variety and I'm not sure if it is commercially grown...but the Digger's Club (I think they might be the equivalent to your Seed Savers) do sell the seeds.

Thanks to all who replied! It looks like I will have to indeed wait until summer to find out if I can het access to any. Too bad I'm too far away from where everyone mentioned.

Anyone ever get any of these watermelons from California? I'm from northern Cali but will totally find an excuse to go down south and visit DLR!
