Tepan Edo - Allergies

My family has ADR's for Tepan Edo in a couple of weeks. My DW is allergic to shell fish. I've watched a couple of You Tube videos from there and while it looks to be fun/entertaining, I'm concerned that she is going to be able to eat with that format. With shared tables, I can't expect nobody to get shrimp, etc... Is anyone familiar with any policies that Tepan Edo has to deal with allergies? Is there a kitchen that she could order something from? I'd really like to keep this ADR if we can.

They are great with dealing with allergies. If she is allergic to shellfish and someone at the table orders shrimp they can do one of 2 things.
They can cook her meal first, before any shrimp touch the surface. Or if necessary, they can cook her dinner in a separate area out of sight in the kitchen, which has no risk of cross contamination.
Is the allergy noted on your ADRs? If not, call and add it. Also mention it when you check in and when the server greets you.
Enjoy

We ate at TeppanEdo with a family member with several allergies and they made her meal in the kitchen. She loved the food and the restaurant

1) This is the ONLY way.
2) Porous steel surfaces cannot be cleaned to prevent contamination.
3) So, food causing allergies cannot be prepared on the teppan surface.

4) But, there is another problem.
. . . people at the same table will be having shell fish
. . . part of the cooking "act" is cutting and tossing shrimp into the air
5) A person with shellfish allergies must be aware of these.

A lot will depend on the severity of the allergy. Ifd it is actual ingestion only that is one thing (also considering the severity of the possible reaction), while if it is contact or inhaling that is another.

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback. We'll keep the ADR. I feel so much better now. Her allergy is not that severe so a kitchen cooked meal will work great.

I have shellfish allergies and they were very accomodating at all restaurants (I had noted my allergies on reservations and had chef and maitre'd approach me at all restaurants to question what would work.) At Teppon Edo they prepared the shrimp after all my food was made. Enjoy!
