received 2 disney credit card offers-help
I received 2 credit card offers in the mail. Need help. Looked at both and can't decide.
Both from Chase Visa, both earn $200 gift card after $500. in 3 months, same APR % etc Here's the only difference I can tell: The one that is no annual fee earns 1% The one with free fee fir first year, then $49.00 after earns 2% on gas, rest, disney locations and 1% all others. I want to earn the gift card and put my trip (May) on when due. Which would you choose? I'm leaning towards no annual fee since I have other better rewards cards (southwest, RCCL) |

I would take both of them to get $400 in rewards.

What does it do to your credit to open both at the same time?
It is addressed to the ***** family. Can I open one and my husband the other? He doesn't understand the value of opening them for the "gift" He see it as potential open credit. But we've never had an issue with credit. |

I took out two Southwest cards and my husband took out one so we could get the companion pass for our dd. So far so good with my credit score. I haven't applied for a credit card in years. So as long as you do not make a habit of it, it shouldn't be a problem. Just do not close your accounts all at once because that hurts your credit score. And since it was addressed to a last name and not a specific person, any person with that last name can apply. So yes, you can take out one and your husband can take out one.

Thank you for the response. Now to talk him into the free money. I already did with southwest and should get the points at the close of this statement. Hoping to book air by mid December. Between all these offers and my sales on eBay this trip should be practically 1/3 of the original cost.

BTW, 1-2% is so tiny an amount back,If I were chossing only one,I'd choose the fee-free card..... if I'm paying an annual fee, it has to be for BIG rewards LOL

Do you think we can both apply for the same one with the offer code? or is it a one time code? |

Get both. Opening a new credit card dings your credit score about 5 points for a few months. As long as you are paying off the card every month, your score should rebound and possibly go up. I would use the 1% just enough to get the giftcard offer and then continue using the 2% card to maximize the amount back. That is unless you have another card that you use that offers you better benefits.
As for the 2% card, at the end of the first year call them up and asked to be downgraded to the 1% fee free card. They *might* offer you to stay at the 2% with some incentive or just go ahead with the downgrade

In your case, it sounds like the no fee card may be a better choice, since you do have other cards you use.

So for the $ 49 annual fee, (we got that card this year) it was totally worth it. (for us, anyway...)
