Not sure I'm happy with cabin assignment

We booked a GTY cabin and just recently got our assignment. We originally booked a 6B but our room is 5028, which looks like a 4E. I was thrilled at first because of the larger balcony but now I'm beginning to worry about the noise. It looks like its located right above the theater. My other concern is the decks above us being able to look over into our balcony. Is this an ok cabin or should I try to change it? If I do try to change, what should I try to change to?

Just a note here, when you book a GTY you're agreeing to take whatever DCL assigns you. Did you book a regular GTY? Or a last minute *GT?

IMO, any room onboard a ship is great!!

You paid for a 6GTY and got a 4. I'd consider that a great thing.

People can see into your balcony on all the ships if they make an effort--we never saw this as a problem. Noise from the theater--never had an issue with this. I'd happily enjoy my upgrade. You have more space and a BIG balcony.

Thank you both for easing my mind. This is the first time we've ever sailed and not picked our cabin. Guess I was just a little bit nervous. Thanks again.

Did you check for a stateroom report? Booking a GTY and getting a 2 category upgrade should be cause for . And I agree with Princess....if you book a GTY you're agreeing to take whatever category they give you.

We sailed in a 4E recently and it was fine. I would do it again. Just know that it's called a cat 4, but it's not the larger-sized room like the other cat 4s. IMO, it really should still be a 5, but that's a whole other discussion

We stayed in a 4E on the Dream and loved it. We had booked a VGT and I was a little leery about the location near the kids' clubs and above the adults only areas on Deck 4, but we had no issues whatsoever with noise. You shouldn't get a lot of foot traffic in your location, and you will find that deck 5 is super convenient. We could easily walk down the stairs to the MDRs and didn't *have to* take the elevators when we went up to Cabanas and the pools. The deep verandah was fantastic. Yes, people on the decks above can see down to the part that sticks out past the depth of the other verandahs, but you can just situate your chairs in the part that is covered if you wish. We made the most of the situation and used our whole verandah. Rarely did we see anyone above us looking down!

I too got assigned this room today! I am happy about it. Unless you are an early bird, I don't think the Walt Disney Theater will cause much of a problem. If you sit during early seating, you will be in the theater for the last show, and if you are in late seating, you will be eating during the last show.

It looks to me like this room is partially over the walkway over deck 4

I wish someone would post a room report for 5028! I am sailing 1/19 - how about you?

We sail January 6th. If you find any pics of the room let me know. I've been looking but haven't found anything yet.

I will post a request to see if anyone has stayed there.

I stayed in at family deluxe on the Fantasy in September - it was a great room with lots of space. Loved it.

I TOTALLY agree with you and think it is very misleading of DCL to have recategorized these as cat 4's when the extra space is on the balcony not in the actual stateroom! I don't think you are comparing apples to apples on all cat 4 rooms and it is VERY deceptive. All the other category 4s are pretty much identical in size, it's just a matter of what deck they are located on. If I booked a bigger cabin and then found out the space was on the verandah, I'd be pissed! I now know though that the cat 4Es really in MY book aren't a 4...they are a 5. I care more about the cabin space than the size of the verandah.
