DVC onboard incentives

Does anyone know what the current incentives are to join DVC while onboard?
We are cruising in February and are considering joining if the perks are good.
Thank you in advance.

I don't know the specific offers right now but when we added on last year I found the deal to be better than what they were offering in the parks.

Just a suggestion, but have you looked into a DVC resale? The prices are really good right now...much better than you will see on the ship. We bought our first 3 DVC contracts directly from Disney (late 90's) and our last three via resale.
Frankly, IMO, the current cost through Disney is ridiculously high, even with incentives.

As just posted it doesn't makes much sense not to go resale. Do some research before your cruise.

Most of the time they give a extra $200-500 on board spending for buying a fix amount of points say 160-320.

So it might cost you $5,000-10,000 more to get the extra on board cash.

Thank you for the comments. I am not familiar with the DVC resale. Is there any guidelines/rules for dummies? I would not even begin to know where to start or what to look for.
So it would be a good idea to initially buy into DVC via resale then add on points on the ship or not even worry about the ship? Also, are there restrictions to buying resale versus on board?
We have been toying with this idea since 2000 and I am ready to get on with it!

Thank you so much for sharing all of your knowledge!

There is a whole DVC section on this board and it will teach you everything including current Direct prices and what people are paying resale. You will also find a link above for resales that support this board.

The biggest downside buying resale is you can not use your points to cruise with, but many many people will tell you it is not worth it anyway and now that DCL is offering many discounts it makes even less sense to use points to cruise.

DVC resale has restrictions. If you are 100% sure you will only use your points for resorts, resale is the way to go. I bought direct because I wanted Aulani and because I know I will want to have the freedom to use my points for other things. If I was an avid WDW park goer and lived on the east coast I'd by the cheapest resale I could find and just use the points for the parks. The disboards DVC board here is very helpful. I found it to be a great resource during the buying process.
