Soooo, how was Thanksgiving at WDW & would you do it again?

Looking into Thanksgiving week next year staying on site. I have been during summer, Easter, & a few days before Christmas so our family can deal with crowds. I was just curious to hear about anyone's experience staying at WDW for Thanksgiving week. Thanks!

One word- Awesome! I will say I don't think this year's trip was as successful as last year's (our first during Thanksgiving), but it had more to do with my planning than the atmosphere of the parks.

We barely used the buses this trip, but the times we used them we didn't wait long to be picked up, and the only bus that was crowded was the one we took after the evening castle show.

We were able to ride everything we wanted to ride. Not always multiple times as we do on other trips during less crowded times, but we got it all in. We concentrated our efforts on character meets we hadn't done, storytellers at Epcot, seeing holiday decorations we didn't see the year before..that kind of thing.

It is a great time to go. I hope we can go back next year.

The weather was great. We arrived on Friday before Thanksgiving and transfered to Universal on Wednesday. I did think it was more crowded than years past because it felt like it was bumper to bumper walking through the parks. Ride wait times were about the same as our June trips but not unmanageable with fast passes. I thought the busses were much better than years past. I don't think we had more than a 15 minute wait for a bus the entire trip. We only had to stand one time.

We were there all Thanksgiving week, and we had a wonderful time. It was a bit more crowded than previous Thanksgiving Weeks, but it was manageable and we got to do everything we wanted to do.

Wonderful! We would definitely go again at Thanksgiving. It was crowded, but we found that the crowds and wait times got better beginning on the Sunday following Thanksgiving. Crowds from that point on were better than we have experienced during Spring Break. The weather was great. The kids were even able to swim a couple of times (it was still a little too cold for me to get in!)

The decorations were beautiful. It was a fantastic way to kick off the holiday season!

So happy to read such positive feedback about Thanksgiving. We are contemplating going during Thanksgiving next year. It sounds like the crowds are heavy but manageable. We would love to experience the holidays at Disney

We are also considering Thanksgiving week next year. We are used to going Labor day week when the crowds are very low and we get free dining, so I'm nervous about the crowds during Thanksgiving.

We were there all Thanksgiving Week and had a great time.

Its really more about smart touring than crowd size.

For instance one day in Epcot my brother in law and his family waited in line at the Norway boat ride for 90 minutes. We met them for dinner at San Angel Inn, and afterward went over and my family rode it with a 9 minute wait.

Thanksgiving Day itself in the MK we were walking on any ride we wanted (except Peter Pan) the last hour and a half or so (park open til midnight).

Our Thanksgiving Week Trip was "Practically Perfect in every Way!" It was really wonderful. Yes the pathways were more crowded than when I went in October a few years ago, but the weather was lovely and we were able to do everything we wanted to and then some. Plus we got to experience the holiday decorations and touches.

I would definately go back over Thanksgiving again and probably will sometime now that we are limited to school holiday's.

As I told my husband - I can handle the heat, I can handle crowds, I can't do heat and crowds together.

Our week at WDW really was Magical. I couldn't have asked for any more.

I definately agree about smart touring trumping the crowd size.

It was crowded, but we had a great time . Walkways, etc. were crowded, and if you wanted to catch a show at one of the parks, you needed to be there a bit earlier than in low crowd times, but with a good touring plan and arriving at rope drop, we avoided most lines.

Red face

We went Thanksgiving Week 2011 from the Sat before to the Sat after and had an amazing week. It was our first time going during the holiday season. We stayed at POFQ and did not wait long for the buses at all that week.
We did not find the crowds too bad. We spent Thanksgiving Day at AK.

We arrived on Thanksgiving day Travelling was awesome there was no one at MCO (we arrived at 3:30pm) once we got settled, we walked around the Epcot resort area and you could tell the parks were crowded plus it was breezy and cool. Friday we went very early to DTD and it got busier as the day went on. Saturday the MK was busy and the weather finally got a little warmer. Sunday was nice the crowds started to thin out but MVMCP was sold out!! Parade lines were thick but it was just fun to be in the spirit of the holidays. Monday thru today(Thursday) weather has be perfect and there are no crowds just a fabulous time to be here I am going to hate leaving here this weekend!!!
and p.s this was our 6th Thanksgiving and we are already planning next year!

We were there from the Sunday before to the Monday after. We thought it wasn't crowded at all except MK on Thanksgiving day and AK on Friday afternoon. Then again, we've been in June and July with all the kids off for summer so it may be a relative mindset issue. We did leave MK when it got packed and AK when it got packed. If you go, I would definitely recommend hoppers or AP's.
