Undercover Tourist Tickets

I have my tickets that I ordered from UT. I think I read somewhere that I need to make a copy of the backs of these tickets. Do I need to make a hard copy or can I take a picture of the back with my iPhone. Why do I need to do this, btw? It has been so long since I read that, I can't remember the reason. We've always bought straight from Disney but this time we are renting DVC points.

Thanks in advance!!

We make copies of all our WDW tickets whether purchased from Disney or UCT (who it great, btw). It's just so if you lose the ticket, you can get help replacing them. I have never had to follow up on this, but I believe that is the theory. (Of course, if you photograph the tickets or make copies, you will not lose them and they will not be stolen. Only if you don't take these precautions. )

Also, post #13 of Cheshire Figment's sticky on everything about WDW tickets addresses "lost tickets." http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1452684

As posted above its so you can replace them if lost. UT keeps track of the numbers but they have regular office hours so it would be hard to replace a ticket lost on Sunday morning.

If you do take a picture, make sure all the numbers are readable. To replace a ticket they need to be able to read every number off the back.

Since UT sells real Disney tickets (not vouchers), I believe you can replace them at a Disney ticket window. You don't need UT for that.

Yes, but you still need the numbers. If you don't make a pic/copy of them you would have to go back to UT to get those numbers. They are not a 24 hour operation.

Understood. I was just clarifying that if you have the numbers, Disney can replace the tickets. With the appropriate information, you don't have to rely on UT.

UT will only give you the numbers. They won't do anything to replace them. You do have to go to Disney for that. I lost a 10 Day Hopper that was purchased from UT, used for 5 days, then lost it a year later on my 2nd trip where I was using the remaining 5 days on the ticket. I contacted UT and they still had my ticket numbers on file, which I was able to give to Disney and get my ticket replaced. I love UT for saving my trip.

I had read that you should take a picture of the backs of your tickets. Thankfully, we did that. The second day there my daughter "misplaced" her AP. She went right to MS at the gate and because she had a picture of her ticket, she was able to get in replaced with no hassle. Took her a total of 20 minutes for the whole thing to get resolved.

On our last trip, I had a copy of the back of our UT tickets. Good thing, because I forgot the actual tickets at home. I feel like a total moron when I checked into the resort and handed them my photocopy, which I had remembered to bring, and had to explain that I had left the actual tickets sitting on my desk at home, right beside the copier I used to make the copy. Doh!

Though for AP's you really don't need the numbers since your name and ID is attached to the ticket.

We got tix replaced with a photo copy

In 2005 I bought 7-day non-hopper passes for myself, DD, DSIL, and DGD. We used only part of the days then. Left home in Virginia two weeks ago with the passes (DD thinks), but she couldn't find them when we got to Orlando after a 7-day cruise. She thinks she may have accidentally left them in the safe or a drawer on the ship.

Fortunately, I had photo copied the backs of all four tickets on one sheet, and brought the copy with me. I called TicketMania (from whom I had purchased the tickets). They couldn't help because of the long period since purchasing, but told me to take the copy to guest services at our first park. Guest services checked to be sure the remaining days hadn't been used, and quickly produced duplicate tickets for us.

I hope anyone else with this problem gets it resolved this easily.
