I have one up on ya with my side of the family. My mom and brother haven't been in 19 years (1993 was their last time there). Last week was their first trip back since then. For them, WDW had the WOW factor since so much has changed. I noticed though, that for us (DH, myself and DS10), it didn't have that like it did back in 2006. I guess it's b/c we had seen most of it back then. A bit of a "been there, done that" kind of thing.

You'll love it and have so much fun!

I'm waiting on my photopass CD and then I'm debating the trip report thing or group TR
My plans went out the window for the second week of our trip too, for some very happy reasons, more on that later. It was all good though, those plans were pretty loose.

Our vacation went too quick- way too quick!
We ended up cancelling 2 ADRs, but they were the lowest priority ones for us ... Coral Reef and Whispering Canyon. I had only a few things on my list we didn't end up doing, but I don't feel terribly deprived to have missed Monsters Inc Laugh Floor ... though was sad the weather didn't agree with me enough for Blizzard Beach.

We're not back yet, but we left Florida yesterday. DS6 kept asking why we couldn't spend another week there and/or move to Florida.

We had such a fantastic time. Between Old Key West, Bay Lake Tower, and Boardwalk Villas the BLT was far and away our favorite, we got a Lake View room that had a view of the castle and fireworks. DHS ended up surprisingly being our favorite park, with Epcot a close second but I loved the easy monorail transportation to Epcot from BLT, and you can't beat the extra bathrooms. BWV we had a standard view right above the lobby, but could see the top of IllumiNations from our balcony and such easy access to the BW it was great too, just the room itself was not as to our style as BLT (and the parking was so far).

Favorite meal was Les Chefs de France lunch ... we ordered a ton of apps and several desserts, had a leisurely meal with Remy popping in that was awesome. Wolfgang Puck Express was probably our second favorite.

Best surprise of the trip was when a buddy of mine from a few years ago saw that I was in Orlando, and he offered us comp tickets to Universal since he works there now! DS loved the Marvel area and Minion Madness, adults loved Jurassic Park and butterbeer. Probably ended up spending about 1 tickets worth on parking/photos/souveniers, but still a great deal and worth changing some of my other plans for.

Best "experience" that we'll have to repeat every trip now was watching IllumiNations from the pontoon boat. No better view, the captain telling us the story was just so special, and got to meet some other DISsers from the DVC boards to boot.

DS6 also really enjoyed Gatorland, he'll want to go again if we go anytime soon. The adults liked the airboat ride more, but I don't know that we'd feel the need to repeat the experience, it was just pretty unique to be skimming around a swamp and we saw a dozen or so gators plus some other wildlife.

Thinking about doing a TR once we get our Photopass CD back, just to relive the memories for myself. I did upgrade to annual passes just in case (it was $20, which I made up in discounts on WPE & our souveniers).

What surprised me the most was how long it really took to do everything. We got almost everything on our list done in the first week going at a breakneck pace, but just barely, then had some repeats the second week. Even with most of the rides being walk ons, and the ones that weren't we were able to fastpass and/or switchpass effectively, just going between attractions seemed to take forever where in DLR we got twice as much done in the same amount of time. We had some good luck and bad luck with the buses the first week, but agreed that the next time we go to WDW, we'll get a car the whole time since it just reduced our stress level so much to be going places on our own schedule. (Though the family we travelled with really enjoyed the not driving part, so they wouldn't if given the choice.)

So now I have 3 years to talk DH into buying a small contract at BLT for a trip in 2016 ...

It sounds like a great trip! I can't wait to hear more We may try a split stay at BLT in a one bed next trip depending on our points situation and how well the to kids are traveling (they will be 2 & 4) We really enjoyed AKL however DH and I really love the laid back feel of OKW, being able to park our car by our room, and just not dealing with too many people. We are thinking of increasing our points so that we can do an Xmas trip in a GV every other year and then doing our family trips (just us 4) in the alt years....

Those premium APs were great! We are going back in October- can not wait! Coral Reef turned out to become of our fav ADRs, the food was really good (not like the reviews I read), server AWESOME, and we celebrates SIL birthday with a boardwalk bakery cake! We also had a front row seat to the tanks

I'm with your son on living closer to WDW We had a great trip as well and even DH seems to be in the Disney spirit from it - we saw an ad for a Disney cruise and he says "we should do that and go to WDW" This is semi shocking

Well hope the last of your trip is easy and safe travels!!

We're home after a most amazing trip!!! Looking forward to catching up...and moving on to the TR board. Hope everyone is well!
I passed by 4 Disboard members in MK on Sunday or Tuesday(I don't remember which day that was because we were there on both of those days)...they recognized my LGMH but, I never caught their names. We were all in a hurry. I also met PrincessAurora, otherwise known as Rho...she saw my Just Engaged button and said congratulations...I said thank you not realizing who she was...my head was in the clouds, apparently. She came up and introduced herself and said she saw my LGMH (thank God for those!)...so happy she did!!! It was so great to meet her...such a sweet person! She met my now, fiance...I met her DBF! I love when that happens!!! We have a great group here, wish I could have met more of you! So great to have a connection with others, when you're so far away from home.

I love this group

I am finally getting into the holiday spirit at home. Baking, wrapping gifts etc and I was thinking how it would be nice to have a group like this to share the holidays with!

I'm baking brown sugar cupcakes today for DHs staff meeting - I would rather bake them for you guys!!

We're BAAAACCCKKK!

Had a great trip...loved new Fantasyland and BOG! Had many magical moments (and one not so magical one that turned INTO a rather magical one) and made a ton of great memories.

Now...back to the grind. Back to work today and facing a mountain of catchup.

But we're already planning our next trip (hopefully, early Jan 2014).

One thing I was disappointed in: It seems, to me, they've scaled back on the X-mas/holiday decorations this year..especially at the resorts (and even, I think, some in the parks). The resort decorations, except for the individual trees (and even a bit there), seemed generic and relatively sparse this year. The exception was the Grand Floridian (because the Gingerbread house is the showstopper).

It was also quite a bit busier than I remember it being during past December trips. I'm sure the opening of the FLE had a lot to do with that....but, for the first part of our trip, it seemed to effect the rest of the parks too (Dec 6th - Dec 10th-ish). Didn't slow us down, much...but thought it was worth mentioning.

We leave this week, we leave this week

We were going to send the christmas gifts via the mail, but they are not even wrapped now, Im thinking it may be too late and we might have to pack them now.

This week is going to be crazy getting everything taken care of. But so excited once we get there, I just wish we had more time at the parks. Next year the family needs to come down to Orlando and do Disney with us so we dont have to cut our trip short to go and see them.

We leave for Disney tomorrow! wow, the time has flown by.....started repacking yesterday, oops, DD grew and looks like the weather will be nice-so we may have to do a bit of shorts shopping when we get there(To cold up here).....odds and ends today, clean the van, and the house...meet with the house/pet sitters again......snacks and movies......kinda have a full day. But on another side, my DS had a great last to meets and won 5 of the last 6 wrestling matches(time to eat and watch weigh a bit but love his 2lb allowance-just in time for Disney treats!).....

Looks to be a winter mix coming in tomorrow after we leave town.....so, time to start the drive south!

Ack! Beginning to hit total panic mode! Only today and half of tomorrow left at work until I'm off through January 2nd, and we leave tomorrow evening to head to St. Louis, so I only have tonight to finish getting everything ready. I have a freaking mountain of projects to finish up, and people keep adding stuff to my in-box. Don't they know I'm in no condition to concentrate. All I want to do is bounce off the walls singing the day after tomorrow I'll be at DISNEY WORLD!!!

Umm, aren't you at WDW through the 29th. Me thinks someone at your work royally messed up the schedule

Glad to hear how much you liked BLT. Sissy's been nagging me about us to buy a small contract there, and since a trip to the World is becoming an annual event, I agree DVC is the way to go, but I'd been trying to talk her into buying into a resort with cheaper resale points. Looks like sissy may end up winning this battle after all!

Aww, how sweet! I'm sure everyone at DH's staff meeting will love the cupcakes.

Totally agree it would be great to share the holidays with this group! This is why we SO need to plan a huge group trip for next year!

Congrats to your son! Winning 5 of the last 6 matches is quite a feat!

I had to re-pack everything yesterday too after looking at the forecast again! Only thing that has me worried is the low on the 21st is supposed to be 41 and that's our MVMCP night. I hate having to bring a coat just for that, but I have leaned from years of sitting in a tree stand while deer hunting that 41 gets freaking COLD if you are standing still out in it for any length of time, like we will be for the parade and fireworks. Eh, guess I'll wear a coat onto the airplane just in case.

Good thing I don't have time to re-pack everything a third time, or I'd probably start second guessing what I've got packet yet again
