Thanks everyone for the responses! I might have to bring some extra snacks for DS8. Is the service at Captians Grille very slow, or can we get done in less than an hour? I have starting reading this thread (up to page 10 so far) and I am very impressed!!! I love how the group has gotten together, and formed relationships with CMs. The pool noodles made me laugh ![]() I look forward to reading more! |

Question for BC experts-
We're staying for the first time in April (woot!) and we are wondering about the best way to get into Epcot for rope drop. I've read in other places that by the time you walk from the BC all the way around World Showcase in the morning the lines are already long and you lose the whole 'arrive early' advantage. Thoughts? Is it worth a cab for the one day we want to hit the big attractions? We're excited to be able to walk to and from the BC for afternoon breaks, swimming, and World Showcase adventures, but we do want to hit rope drop once. Thanks for the thoughts

Even if you are, I still think you are better off just going through the International Gateway and World Showcase. Sometimes the "rope" for the WS entrance will be dropped a few minutes before the main rope to equalize the slight advantage, but even if it is not, I think we are only talking about 5 minutes. IMHO, not worth the extra expense, or time or hassle of getting to the front of EPCOT, plus dealing wiht a much bigger crowd of people than you will coming from the other direction. Now other experts out there who have had recent trips- since the only rope drops I have ever done are the EMH, 8 am entry- Do they stop you at the turnstiles at IG before the park opens, or are you able to go through the WS and make it to the border of WS/Future World. I have heard both. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences, friends.

We were staying at BW last August and we had to wait at the turnstiles, there was no rope drop as such, we were still one of the first on Soarin' though

When we were there this past August we were in line for RD. They let us in a few minutes before 9:00 and we went directly to Soarin. TT was closed at this time so ALL early morning gate crashers were heading toward Soarin. We grabbed FP's and still were one of the first groups on Soarin. So no, in my opinion there is no disadvantage to IG. Here's a pic of IG right before opening on that first week of August. A 10 on crowd calendars.....

Good morning all,
Yesterday we arrived at WDW for our first stay at the YC CL. Here are a few random thoughts: 1) Don't travel on a plane with a team of college-aged cheerleaders! Apparently there is a big cheering competition at the Wide World of Sports. Well, to our initial amusement, a rather high percentage of college cheerleaders have never flown before and, to our chagrin, become irrationally terrified when either taking off or landing. 2) Love using the ME, but, when 7 teams of cheerleaders arrive at MCO at or neat the same time, it gets crowded & loud down in the waiting area. 3) The YC is definitely quieter than the BC, and it is beautiful. Sorry BC fans - we've gone completely over to the dark side, as we've found our new home. 4) The CL has the best lobster salad! Living in MA, we're seemingly spoiled, in that you can find it pretty much anywhere. However, the chefs that cater to the the Regatta Club are truly masters of their craft. 5) It is so much quicker to walk to DHS than to take the launches. We starting walking just a one of the Friendship boats arrived a the Studio dock. We on the bridge at the Boardwalk & Swan before it we could see it going under the bridge for the road (Buena Vista Drive - I think). I guess we're going to get tons of exercise this trip! ![]() &, the final one for today: 6) This morning for DS's & my morning jog it was FREEZING. 41 degrees!! What's up with that FL? It was warmer in MA on Tuesday! Come on Mickey, please turn up the heat a little. ![]()

Opps. Just thought of one more! Loved the new Test Track. The ride overall felt faster. However, I would not ever do stand-by again unless it was walkon. It took much longer than the supposed 30 minute wait, and, while the design your own car was cute, it definitely was not worth the wait.
Off the to AK, back from supper at Cape May's, & then to Epcot again for late EMHs!

1) and 2) Sorry to hear about the cheerleader chaos! I have to say your story makes me very proud of the 145 middle schoolers I traveled with in June. They were very well behaved in the airport, on the planes and in the airport. We got several compliments from airline and resort staff througout our trip At least they aren't staying at the resort with you! Pity the folks at the All Stars. 3) So glad to hear you love the Yacht Club! 4) ITA agree about the lobster salad. We had that one night in the lounge, and as a life-long New Englander, I totally give it my seal of approval. 5) We have raced (and beat) the HS boats twice in July, and it was brutal in the heat, but I would be all over that in January! 6) Hope you have some warmer weather. Gonna be cold in MA today, so you should beat our temps. Have a great day and trip!!!
