Red Wing Boots

We are thinking of buying my husband a pair of Red Wing boots to wear while he works. He's on his feet most of the day, and the boots we've been buying just aren't holding up.

These are the ones we're looking at:

If you've worn this brand, I'd love to hear about if they hold up well, if they're comfortable, worth the money, etc.

Thanks.

My husband wear's redwing, but not those as he needs water proof shoes. But I can say they are very durable shoes. Yes they cost a little more , but so worth it. He buys a pair about every 2 years.

My husband wears them everyday - not the ones you have - but he loves their comfort, durability and yes they do cost more but he walks in them all day long and they last about 1.5 - 2 years for him.

My husband wore cheapos for years, then switched to Red Wings. Now he swears by Doc Martins after one of his Supt. suggested he go for even better boots.

These are similar to what my husband has. The ones you linked to, not sure if they are safety toe or if your husband needs those. They also aren't as expensive as I remember them being.

My DH wears them for work everyday (he is a Heavy Equipment Operator). His work pays for them but he said he would buy them anyway, even if his work wasn't paying, since they are the best for his job

DH wears Red Wing as well, just not that particular boot. He's been wearing them for years now and its the only brand he'll buy. He tried going with a cheaper brand and they wore out in less than six months and his feet started to hurt. Went back to the Red Wings and hasn't had any problems with his feet and they last him anywhere from 1-2 years.

DH has the 938 style. He has always had a pair of Red Wing boots and they last him a long time.

I work on my feet all day and I must say redwings are the best pair of boots I have ever owned in 20 years. I must say though, you should not buy your husband a pair, but rather get him a giftcard to go and purchase them. Red wings takes the time to analyze the shape of your foot and customizes inserts for maximum comfort. Also the sizes are not necessarily the same as other boots, so it is very important he go and try on multiple sizes and models. Hope it works out for you. Good luck

My husband also buys Red Wings. Not those one specifically, but he has always been satisfied with the brand.

My husband only wears Redwings, but not that style and he will only buy the ones that are made in USA.

Heck if you're paying that much money why buy made in China.

I know this isn't the Budget Board, but I think Red Wing shoes are overpriced. My husband is required to wear steel toed boots similar to the one pictured. He swears by Caterpillar boots that you can purchase at DSW for around $100.00 or less depending upon their sales. He is very hard on his boots and these last really well.

My husband wears those for work. They have always lasted a long time but he last pair he got the seam came out on the side after two months. Our local place replaced them, I'm not sure if this is a company wide policy or just the shoe place we got them from but we are more than happy with the service. I have to say that before we started investing in red wing my husband wore cheaper shoes and while they did last they didn't have a lot of cushioning and were causing some back issues. If your husband is on his feet a lot I would spend a bit of extra money to make sure he is comfortable.

My husband and boys will only wear Redwings. They've tried cheaper and they don't hold up at all.

The Red Wing steel-toed safety boots have saved my husband's toes many times over. He applies the waterproofing to them and has them resoled as necessary. He always has at least two pairs. OUr local store has coupons occasionally and he buys them then.
