Studio Backlot Tour Referb

Had anyone done the tour since the refurb? I was wondering what changes or improvements were made? I haven't been on it since 2008 and didn't do it my past 2 trips.

Well that's okay, just happy it will be open in January! I originally thought it would be closed longer or permanently.

All there is to it (and, I assume that you remember this from 2008) is:
the "Water Tank" demo first-thing.

A walk down and pass through the Props Room (usually very cursory,)

and a trip on the trams past, well, not much anymore

and, finally, a stop at Catastrophe Canyon.

Tram exits at the American Film Institute walk-thru exhibit.

Is it possible to view Film Institute exhibit only? Not do the whole tour?

Yes you should be able to enter through the exit.

Smile

~I heard Disney will eventually tear this area down, to expand into something Star Wars or Cars Land related. But, yeah, unfortunately everything is the same. We really like when the truck explodes!

Did the tour in May, didn't notice anything different really except it seemed that the water tank show was shorter... my nieces boyfriend who has ptsd from the Army really hated that part. So glad it was shorter. They didn't have people from the crowd involved like they used to. The tram ride seemed much shorter as well... seemed to do a bit of back tracking. It did go through the costuming shop but no one was working so that seemed a bit boring. The best part was the Catastrophe Canyon but that has always been my favorite part.

This is one thing that I think Universal Studios has over Hollywood Studios... the back lot tour is so much better.

There is no backlot tour at Universal Studios. In California, yes.

And the reason the backlot tour is so much better in US (California) is that they actually have a backlot. In a functioning studio.
