Scheduled port arrival times
If my port arrival time is 1:00 and I arrive at noon, will I be permitted to board? Please let me know your experience with this!

You'll be allowed to board. The question is when. Your port arrival time is not the same as boarding time; you still need to go thru security, check in for the cruise, etc.
If you arrive at noon with a 1:00 scheduled arrival time, you will usually be allowed into the terminal without problem (boarding has already started, so the terminal will be clearing out rapidly). You will go thru security screening and check in (maybe 20 minutes total depending on the lines) and then board when your boarding group number is called. |

So, if I am all checked in by noon, and have my boarding number you think there is a good chance of being able to board earlier than 1?
Thanks again,

Your boarding number is tied to your scheduled terminal arrival time. You will not get an earlier boarding number by showing up earlier. In fact, I would not suggest showing up before noon because you may encounter larger crowds. Boarding typically starts about 11:45 (although on our last cruise it was 11:30.) If you show up before that, you may not be allowed into the terminal depending on how crowded it is. once boarding starts, it moves very rapidly. SO, if you arrive after the start of boarding, you will be allowed in (because people are moving out quickly). The problem DCL has is that they must keep within the fire regulations concerning number of people in the terminal.
I think it is very likely that you will be allowed to board before 1. However, this will not change based on whether you show up at 12 or show up at 11:30 with the intent of completing the check in process by 12. I would NOT suggest showing up before 12--it won't help you and you'll just get to deal with crowds. This is based on the new ships. The process is easier on the classic ships since there are fewer guests. |
