Missed a flight to WDW in 2010 because I overslept. They were very nice and got me on stand-by for the next flight out and I made it and a connecting flight. I was only a few hours late. I love American

Missed a flight on Air trans once. We got to the airport on time but DD wanted breakfast so I decided to use the rest room. Got to the gates exactly 15 minutes before the flight was due to take off, to have the doors literally close in our face. So instead of getting home at 12.30pm via a direct flight from Orlando to New York, our family had to split up into 2 parties and get connecting flights. We eventually got home at 11pm.
59 visits to Walt Disney World and still counting
3 visits to Disney Land
7 cruises on Disney Magic
9 cruises on Disney Dream
2 cruises on Disney Wonder
1 cruise on the Disney Fantasy

I have missed more flights than I can count. Usually connecting flights that don't come in on time. The airline pays for the hotel stay and dinner as a result. Typically our delays have been mechanical in nature. We've never missed a flight due to our own fault.

I've missed a good amount of connecting flights, but never an initial flight. As far as getting put on another flight, it really just depended, but either way it was inconvenient, so not fun.

The only time I missed one was coming home from WDW. I just couldn't leave! My flight was in the afternoon and I wanted to stay in the parks for as long as possible so I cut it REALLY close. Then I accidentally went to the wrong terminal. I got there in time to watch my plane pull away from the gate. But that was before 9/11, when flying was so much easier. They just put me on the next flight, free of charge.

When I was younger (6th grade) my family missed an early morning flight in South America. Good thing. Our missed flight crashed into the Andes, no survivors.

We’ve almost missed connecting flights because the previous flight ran a little long but have been lucky so far and just made it. In recent years we’ve been taking direct flights so that hasn’t been an issue.

However, about 15 years ago, I don’t know how we managed to do this, when we were leaving WDW we went to the wrong airport when we were heading home. We realized when we got there that nothing looked familiar. DH drove like a bat out of H*ll trying to make our flight at Orlando International but we just missed it. We were able to take the next flight which was easy enough but its arrival was too late to make the connecting flight so we had no choice but to take a much later flight….so we had a 9 hour layover in NYC….we will never make that mistake again.

I don't think I've ever missed a flight but then again I am too paranoid of missing a flight so I always get to the airport 3 hours earlier. When I travel with my family this is not a problem because my mom is the time police!

I was flying home to Boston from Houston this past August with a plane change in NY. While waiting in Houston there was an announcemet that the flight was delayed due to weather on the way down.

I went over to the desk to inquire about rebooking my second leg. Turns out the plane from Houston was the same plane that was going to Boston from NY! So I would not miss my flight. That made me very happy since it would have been late in the day and I don't know if another flight would have been available.

In October my DD17 had a French exchange student. 40 French teens were here for 10 days. They were due to drive to NYC on Sunday and sight see then fly out. That was the day Storm Sandy was going to hit NYC so the flight was rescheduled to Monday night out of Boston.

Monday morning the second flight was cancelled because Sandy was hitting Boston. It took until the following Saturday to get all the kids on flights. It would have been 10 days to get a flight for the 40 kids plus 4 adults so they were split into groups with one adult each.

We had no warning about who would fly out when. We would be alerted via email and text when the airline notified the group leader. One set of kids had an hour's notice to get their belongings together and get to the high school for the bus. The other groups had parents driving them to the airport.

Our teen was with us until Friday night, an extra 6 days. The final group flew out on Saturday. We drove her and another student to the airport. My DD and her got along great so there were hugs and tears when they parted.

The teens were homesick but did enjoy seeing the storm. Our town got a lot of water over the sea wall (ocean front town) but luckily no real damage.

DD flies to France on February 8th and I am hoping it goes smoothly this time.

I missed a connecting flight, pre-9/11, because the crew could not/would not control the passengers. We were on the tarmac waiting for a gate. While we were waiting, a couple of folks decided they had to use the restroom. The flight attendant gave a weak "we cannot move if everyone isn't in their seat" warning but nothing else. That cost us 15 more minutes. I got to my connecting gate as the plane was pushing back. I was livid.

Now my friend, who has no sense of time, is a different story. She was visiting me for the weekend and we decided to go to sunday brunch before she had to fly out. I asked her when she needed to be at the airport. She said 12:30. Off to brunch we went. At 12:15 she said to me, "We should be going. My plane leaves in 15 minutes." Needless to say, she missed that flight. She got home about 10 hours late as a stand-by passenger.

I have never missed an originating flight, but I have missed many connections due to weather or mechanical delays. The worst was being stuck in O'Hare for 3 days around Christmas. They kept putting us on standby, but of course being close to Christmas, all the flights were full. Some gate agent gave us the best Christmas gift ever by putting a note in our file that we were on our honeymoon, and we wound up in first class on a flight on Christmas Eve. Otherwise, we probably would have spent Christmas in the airport.

We missed our flight home the last time we were in Orlando. We were travelling with DH’s family and his parents used their time share to book condos for everyone for the week. It was amazingly generous and we had a great time!

I had reservations for the 4 of us to have brunch at Chef Mickey’s as our farewell to WDW splurge. DH woke up in the WORST mood…he wanted the kids ready 30 minutes before the planned time. (Both kids were teens and in charge of getting themselves packed and ready to go.) DH was mad we had leftover bottled water and food… He demanded we have breakfast in the condo, cancel Chef Mickey and then head to the airport.

Well, much grumpiness ensued, but I canceled Chef Mickey and we ate in the room. Tossed the open stuff and hoped housekeeping might take the unopened stuff. We took all the waters and sodas with us.

DH knew is was being a #&^$. Trying to make peace, he decided to use our resturaunt.com certificate to eat pizza at Giordano’s. Since I had ceased talking to him at this point, he was on his own. He ended up driving to a location away from the airport, ordering a deep dish pizza that took forever to cook, left for the airport late, could not find a gas station on the way (this was pre-smart phones for us), we got to the rental desk about 45 minutes before our flight was supposed to take off and proceeded to run to the ticket counter. HUGE MAJOR LINES on a Saturday at MCO and we did not even get to the counter before the flight left.

We were not able to get a flight out until the next day, but we were not charged change fees. The ticket agent was great and was very apologetic that we had to wait so long in line and that we missed our flight. Needless to say, DH apologized and conformed. I booked us a room at Boardwalk Villas using our DVC points, we took the Magical Express to the resort, walked around the boardwalk, had an amazing dinner at Cat Cora’s restaurant and DH was on his best behavior the whole time.

So, while our morning was the worst…we had a nice evening and all of the sucking up DH did made up for it…eheheh…

Never have. Came close once on a connection with 20 minutes between flights, but we booked it and made it.

Flying back from Disney World in two weeks, we have a 30 minute layover. We may be cutting it close, but the fare was too cheap to pass up.

I had a friend in Junior High whose college aged stepsister had been studying abroad and missed her flight - the flight that blew up over Lockerbie, Scotland.
