I think I agree with the pp who suggested you try to walk what you can just to gain the experience. Will you be recovered from surgery in time to walk the phm?

Okay, I already am 40, but if I were to change my name, how would you know it was me?

I survived the end of the semester. No more classes until Jan 9.
I did start my lab job, but it's not bad at all compared to class. My longest run since I've been sick was only 2 miles, but I magically shaved a minute off my pace while I was sick. Ok, it's probably because my blood pressure is under control, but magic sounds cooler. I'm heading out for a short run today and tomorrow, and then I'm aiming for at least 4-5 miles on my weekend run.I'm still on the fence, but I'm pretty sure I want to train for a full marathon after the PHM. The one I'm looking at is mid-Dec next year.

I posted a while ago about a pain in the ball of my foot and how I went to a podiatrist and got orthodics and laser therapy...blah blah blah...took almost a week off running and then tried again. Did 5K which felt ok. Then did 13K which did not feel good at all (actually everything else felt great - legs, lungs, thoughts - but not.my.foot). Just went back to see the dr again and had more laser therapy and she told me no running for 2 weeks. TWO WEEKS! I am freaking out! I have trained so religiously for 10 months, I am even up to 21K and feeling good afterwards...and now I am so worried that I am not going to be able to run the Princess without being in pain or I will be able to run but I will have lost so much training. This started about a month ago and I have not been to run as long as usual and now no running at all. I am renting a stationary bike so I can still do something but I am so discouraged and worried! I have worked so hard for this!!! (just needed to tell people who "get it" and maybe have been through something similar)

Not only was it hard because now I feel like I am back to square one, but I keep stressing about whether I will be up to it in February. I already missed a 15K and 10K I was planning to run. I just got cleared to run short distances about 2 weeks ago and he wants me to build back up at about a mile a week. Well, that won't cut it because that puts me at 13 miles a week AFTER the Princess Half. I was running 15K fairly comfortably before this all happened and now I am runnning 5K. I am thankful that I have no pain but it's stressful knowing that 3 months ago I was way ahead of where I am now and we have so little time left. But we're going to do this!!!! So many of us have overcome (or are still battling) these things and I believe in us. Time to get grass roots Disney and pull that pixie dust!!!!

A little off-topic but I just read that in 2014 there is a 10k option for the DL half weekend!!!! AND something called a Dumbo Double Dare...10k saturday and half on sunday and you get an extra medal for it...kind of like the Goofy challenge, only not the insane mileage! Pretty cool! I'll repost this on the Tink thread too...

Have you identified what's causing the iT Band to tighten up? That's key, or it'll just keep happening. Quote:

Are you walking regularly? Maybe plan on walking it instead?Quote:
I get it! It sucks, no way around it. Hang in there!Quote:
![]() Yes!!! I totally had to revamp my training and may only get up to 10 miles in training. And I'm starting to accept that I may have to change my race strategy drastically - I'm considering a walk.5 mile, run/walk .5 mile, etc. NOT how I envisioned running my first half marathon... but I need to change that vision and focus on finishing and having fun doing it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ahem. Never underestimate the power of adrenaline... I had a horrific few days - like, really bad, sky-high stress. Monday night I ran with no plan beyond relieving stress... and ran a sub-10:00 mile. Couldn't even feel my knee. Wouldn't have cared if it did hurt.

So I'm going slow. I had great hopes of regaining some old speed I once had (long, long, loooonnggg ago! lol) but it seems it will have to wait a bit. Thanks to a great (old) 10K time, I will be in a wonderful corral but really will need to move back to start. I'd just be in the way I think if I start where they generously put me. Don't want to get trampled by wings and tutus! ![]() Cripey- if the BF doesn't run and you want to walk/run, I'd be happy to meet up and see if we can push each other through!

decisions decisions
I do manage to walk still every other morning at 4am with my neighbor. That way it doesnt interfere with me being at work at 7am or being a mom and wife! However, after my hip surgery next week, I'll be on crutches for several weeks. I meet with my ortho this morning and I'm sure he'll offer me some advice about walk or no go! (Then the decision is defer AGAIN, let my DH wear my bib or just plain out sell it!)
Please dont get me wrong, Im not saying "poor me". I have a great life, good health (otherwise), two adorable boys, a loving DH, a great job, a warm house, and the ability to travel to WDW several times a year. I am blessed. But I hate making decisions--that's where you guys come in! Oh, and any ideas for dinner tonight?
