Live in TX. Also going to try and put "gryhndmom" on the back of my pink jacket. DH will look like he would rather be golfing and hoping his wife's next bucket list item is not a running event

I thought I was fine on my fueling (water + sports beans) - but these articles were really helpful. Thanks, flatlandcycle! Think I might try just the sports drink and skip the Gu or Sports Beans.

I would mentally prepare. Try to think about taking the edge off a bit in mile 9-10 and then think about gliding through the hills. I am likely to walk some of the first hill and power through the last two. As PrincessV said, the drainage tilt/camber is pretty rough on the ramp.
Thanks! My usual training has plenty of hills... but I've been stuck on the treadmill for the last 4+ weeks due to snow and ice. It's nice to know what the hills are like so they don't sneak up on me. The Disneyland 1/2 had no real hills.

Podcasts and good music got me through! Treadmill may be boring, but I don't think it's as strenuous as outdoor running. I'll be glad when the snow melts and I can get back on the road!

Characters?

Hi Princesses,

Well, any other New England Princesses with cabin fever? We've been stuck inside the house for 4 days straight (aside from shoveling) - 30.5 inches of snow followed by freezing rain prevented us from going anywhere. We're very thankful we didn't lose power this time though - phew!

Anyways, I was wondering if any experienced Princesses can tell me about characters we can meet along the course - do they start right away (mile 1?) and spread out evenly or are they concentrated to later on in the race? And would it be better to wait till the return leg of the race to stop for photos - we're in Corral A (still a bit surprised about that we msut have been right at the cut off between A & B) so it would still be dark when we go up to MK, right? Are there any "not-to-be-missed" characters we should be on a look out for?

Thank you

Welcome to the taper, everyone! I have been here since December, LOL!

I'll be in race retreat and thinking I will try to be on one of the first busses out. Any thoughts on a throw away shirt? Will I need it with RR? Maybe just a Mylar blanket?

I am mentally burned out right now and its caring slightly over to my physical aspect. I really wish the Princess was this weekend just because I need 'my happy place' a lot right now. A WDW boost could work so many wonders right now. I guess at least I only have 10 days until my arrival right?

The one good thing that came out of these doctors appointments (the reason why I am burned out right now)? I am going to spending the weekend post-Princess in CA. Guess who is going to Disneyland?

Ok, I am officially jealous that you are going to DL. I live in Fla. and going to where Walt actually walked is on my bucket list.

Have you done Coast to Coast yet? You should maybe try it. Would be a good excuse to go to CA (I use Run Disney as an excuse to drag my parents to WDW, I see FL a lot less than I see CA)!

Seriously! The weekend storm was enough, but we got another 3 inches today before getting coated in a layer of ice. Can't.Wait.For.Florida.

You may be actually dehydrating your blood. If you have too much salt, water will move to your gut/GI tract in an attempt to dilute high salt concentration. The proper concentration in your stomach is 6-8% carb & water. Do you have sloshy stomach? This indicates too much sugar to water.
Thanks! Interesting articles. No, I've never had a sloshy stomach, but its something I'll keep an eye on.

I will definately we wandering around looking at the signs people have on their shirt backs. Hopefully we can all meet up.

By the way-I'll be wearing a tiara and Cinderella blue tutu and blue running shirt.

Go Princesses!
It has been a busy thread today with lots of great long runs.
Those battling injuries need to take care of yourselves. At this point being healthy is important.
To the Northern Princesses hope the storm hasn't caused you too much inconvenience.
We are almost there..time to finish strong.
