Is illuminations a must do?

Epcot will be our first park of our vacation. We have chef mickeys ADR at 5:00 that day and 8:15 CRT for the next morning on mk day. I have 2 boys almost 4 and 7. I am wondering if we should call it an early night due to early ADR and busy mk day. There will be no napping on Epcot day due to other circumstances. Opinions?

It is not a must-do in my opinion. I'm sure many others posters' opinions will differ.

Consdiring the ages of your boys, I don't think its a must do. It's wonderful to see, but we don't watch it everytime we visit Epcot.

I love fireworks with an almost crazed obsession, so I always say that you need to see the shows. I can imagine for small children that this one won't be as exciting as others (more lights, fountains, etc .. not just a fireworks extravaganza). I also like watching stuff that is synced up with music, so that's my personal preference.

It is a must and if not for kids, then for you. There are tons of Illuminations videos, including HD on Youtube, just watch and enjoy, although the real feel is so much better. Anyway, if you feel it is better to skip, then you will have something to look forward on your next trip. Have fun!

Given the ages of your children and the plans you have already for an early morning the next day, I think you should give Illuminations a miss. It will still be there the next time you visit, when hopefully the children will be old enough to stay up a bit later.

We have kids 11, 7, and 5 and we stood and watched last Monday. They thought it was cool, but the next night watched Wishes with a completely different enthusiasm! I'd say skip it and get a good night's sleep for sure!

I think it's a must see, but for your next trip. It's truly amazing, but you want the kiddos rested up for the next morning, so it can definitely be missed this time.

However, if you get a chance to hop over some other night......

It's a definite must-do for us, but we don't have young kids, not sure how fun that would be. I think I might wait until the next trip in your situation.

Of all the shows we are just not that into illuminations, especially the ages of your children. We never miss Wishes and we LOVE Fantasmic too.

The tricky part is ideal viewing. Everyone sees the fireworks overhead and the lasers but I never even knew there was a globe floating on the water until about the 5th time I watched the show LOL. If you happen to be there and happen to get a good spot, by all means your kids will enjoy the show! If not, not a big deal to skip it.

Enjoy your trip!!!

I agree. No, it is not a must-do for us. We've never seen it. Our priority is Wishes.
