Question 9 nights, think it's too long?

Last time the two of us went together was in 2000! We were there 11 nights (had won part of trip to Beach Club, the rest was at SOG - last year of him qualifying for discount).
That was too long for us - but to be fair, I HATED Shades of Green and I really think staying at the Beach Club first spoiled the rest of the trip for me. It was also mid May, very hot (and I just went in June 2011 for 4 nights for my parent's 50th anniversary, their gift to all us kids - awesome time, but too hot!). We also were very commando this trip. And we didn't have a ton of extra money, no dining plan, etc.

This trip, it's two of us. Staying at either Beach Club or Poly. Big 40th b-day blowout for both of us.
Thinking about end of October or so, my two sisters and my nieces will be joining us for 4 days of the trip. They will choose where they want to stay, we are all very easy-going.
Have the money this time, plan to sleep in a couple days, maybe spend more time around pool, lazing around. We will plan nights around restaurants, late-night cocktails. Maybe some nice sit-down breakfasts a few mornings. Also want to do a tour or two.

I'm thinking 9 nights sounds perfect? He's just as excited as I am to go back, if that helps.

Also thinking of throwing in a Harry Potter day - I'm a nut for Harry Potter. But I'm not sure if the lines are still out of control?

We went for just 7 days in September and didn't nearly see everthing. We stayed at the Beach Club and spent a lot of time enjoying the pool in the afternoons. Its great! 9 days will be fine!

Go for it!!!! Sounds amazing!!! We just did 10 nights, 10 days for the first time ever and it was just amazing! It was perfect actually! It felt really special because we have never been away for that long since our honeymoon, only 4 days was in wdw of the 11 we were away.

Two weeks sounds nice, but I think it would be just too long for us at Disney.

Although we are planning a two week vacation to Italy. Any less time wouldn't be worth it! - the funny part, the Disney trip is shaping up to be more expensive!!

edited to add: I hope saying the money part wasn't annoying. We saved and saved for these trips!

Same with us! No honeymoon (not married), but we haven't been on a long vacation together in a long time!

I won't get into the whole is 9 days too long argument as I could stay there 6 months straight and would be seriously distraught the next day.Yes go do two days at both Universal parks, the Potter lines are manageable as early or later in the day the lines will esse off, plus you have the singles line for the Forbidden Journey ride. Also go do a day at Sea World, hit up the two Disney waterparks or Sea World's waterpark Aquatica, spend a day a Downtown Disney or resort hopping, take another day and see other things in Orlando,Mall at Millenia,Florida Mall,International Drive, stroll Park ave. in Winter Park,go to Busch Gardens a short hour away, see what I mean I could spend months in Orlando.

We drive to WDW from Pennsylvania. It takes 17 or 18 hours. So, when we finally get there, I like to stay a "little extra" because of the long drive. So, I book 9 nights. It works perfect for us.

I think you'll be great. Enjoy!

I feel exactly the same...

I think 9 is a good number. We hope to do longer trips once our kids are older. We did 13 nights at Pop before we got married and got tired of it. I could definitely do that long at Beach Club (it's our fave). I'd love to go the end of Oct into early Nov and do both the Halloween Party and Christmas Party in one trip.

My husband and I spent 15 days at The Wilderness Lodge for our honeymoon back in Nov/Dec 1999.

We had a blast and were "okay" with going home at the end but would have LOVED to stay even longer.

I say... GO FOR IT!!!

9 nights too much?

I have been to WDW many times and I don't think nine nights is ever too much. You feel a lot more relaxed when you are not trying to see everything in just a few days.

We did 21 park days in 2010 but over two trips. Not nearly enough.

I'm not a big fan of very, very long trips (max for us is 6 nights), but I'll go with the flow.

You could potentially do 2 days at MK, 2 days at Epcot, 1 day at DHS, 1 day at AK, 1 day at TL or BB, 1 day at USF and IoA (which includes WWoHP), and a rest day in the middle of it all.

Also, I recommend Polynesian.
