Ron Jon Resort

We are thinking of staying here for 2 nights pre or post cruise. I would love to hear from anyone who has stayed there. Are there water sports on site? How is the restaurant? Safe area? Thanks

We stayed here two nights post cruise last June. For us, it was a nice "welcome back" to the real world. I would recommend staying here, although it can be pricey. Check in was smooth, although our room was not ready when we got there. They held our luggage, and we went to the DIS Welcome Center. When we were able to get to the room, it overlooked the canal, so we could watch the ships leave each afternoon. A tropical depression was on its way, so our time at the pool was limited. We never made it to the beach. There are many activities included in the price of your room. We had fun with the mini golf. We had two meals at the outside bar. Typical burgers and sandwiches. I felt the resort area was safe. I don't think there is a lot of places within walking distance. We had our car to get away.

Stayed at the Ron Jon for the night before our cruise on 10th November.

We checked in around 11.00am and a room was already available! As the previous poster, it overlooked the waterway leading to the sea and we could see the Fantasy in the port.
There is a very nice swimming complex on site with a large pool, lazy river, slide and kids play area. You can walk to the beach or they provide a shuttle.
We also walked down to the bars along the waterside by the port - it's probably about 1 1/2 miles or so, not short, but not unmanagable.
We had told our daughters (ages 21 and 19) that we were going to St Augustine for 4 nights after the Ron Jon, but we sat outside Milliken's Reef as the Fantasy went out and gave them the documents that showed them we were going on the 4 night Dream cruise instead. To say they were surprised would be an understatement!

Sorry, can't help you there. We were only there for one night, so only walked down to look at the beach, which is quite nice, by the way.
