So now that I know I'm officially in the last corral, how difficult will it be to maintain a 10 minute pass as I navigate through slower runners/walkers? Is the course wide enough that it's not too difficult to get around people?

After the first 1-2 miles, you should be able to find some room to settle into your pace.

Is it not possible to run a 10k for proof of time? Not only is it going to be difficult for you, but us slower runners hate feeling like we're being run over just as much as you faster runners hate having to dodge us.

Just a 1/2 marathon this weekend, everything else is 5k. I'm thinking about doing it though to make it easier for myself, and the people I would have to run around. I had a 10k planned a couple months ago, but it was rained out and re-scheduled for a weekend I was gone. The only race I was able to complete this year was a 5k.

Get to the front of the corral for start, and hopefully by the time you catch up to the previous corral, it'll have spread out a bit.

But yes. It will be congested for a faster runner for the first several miles. Those back corrals tend to be pretty bunched up.

If you can find a race to run before Marathon weekend, it'd be well worth your time (and sanity).

I'd say go for it. This is probably a cutback week for you anyway, with a 20-miler next weekend? So it would be perfect.

I am running a Half myself this Sunday just for fun. Last race of 2012 for me. It will make a good LR.

If you get a decent time on the half, bring it to the expo and they will move you up to where you belong.

I would do it. I submitted a 2:14 half time (which I think is what you said you could probably do) and I am in corral D. It's worth doing in my opinion.

I wonder if you could run a 5k, show a solid time, and put yourself on their mercy at the expo. Maybe they wouldn't move you up a bit. It seems like they do have some discretion. I even talked to the race director one time who had the ability to do something I wanted. He didn't, but he clearly had the power to do it.

Cool! Love that! I'll be in a black Team Gleason running shirt. Still need to order DH's...

That's a good point. If you could just run it as a training run you would be way better off.
