To help with pre-race jitters, run some of the pages from the Run Disney website into this translator. Warning- very graphic language. However, if you don't mind a few f-bombs and (self-claimed) 'ghetto' language it is very, very funny.

So true. Last year was my first marathon and when I crossed the finish line my tears welled up. So many of the volunteers are congratulating runners. But when the girl put the medal around my neck I just needed a big hug and she was so kind to give my sweaty body a hug. Ok, I am tearing up again reliving the moment.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I have one called SPI belt - smallest possible pouch that can just hold my iPhone... One thing if you've never run with one before you have to fasten it tightly and in a spot so it doesn't slide around. But it's otherwise pretty unobtrusive.

I made this video to show to a group of my friends the night before we competed in Ironman Florida this last November. It was a compilation of photos of us from races, training and get-together in the year leading up to the race.

This morning heading into work, one of the songs from the video came on the radio and immediatley reminded me of one of my favorite runnin/racing quotes.

"It's all over now except for the suffering. Welcome to the hurt locker, make yourself at home."

I'll be headed to the airport in about 24 hours, but really looking forward to enjoying the day.

I missed like 10 pages of posts, so someone may have mentioned this, but Coach Charles should really take up a new career as a weather man. I believe he predicted we were "due for a hot one" about six months ago.

The OKW is bad luck for hot weather when he stays there. I vote for coach staying at BLT in 2015 when I decide to do my first Goofy.

If's been fun. Training kind of sucked as injuries came and came again. The weather will be great for my crew, not so good for the runners. Neither of these are controllable. So once I cross the gates this morning it is all smiles. On race days, I can control speed, hydration and attitude. Attitude is the easiest by far since this is the happiest place on earth. Speed, not so easy to control, I am a dog chasing the car runner. If there is someone in front of me I can follow for a few moments but then feel the urge to pass. THat is controllable to some degree but its a fight.

FOR YOU NEWBY Runners.

I DARE you not to be teary eyed a little as you run in Magic Kingdom. You will NOT hold it completely together. There will be a song, a memory, a thought that will catch you.

In the half, it's a little tough the last three miles, but you crossed the same hill at mile 1. Remember, that they only feel steep at the end.

In the full, I am betting that there is a point in the DHS through Space Ship Earth stretch that catches your emotions again. There is something once you realize that you could almost crawl the rest of the race that makes you well up a little. For many its the sight on SpaceShip Earth. You will see it a few times as you loop the World Showcase then all of a sudden you are HOME

As you hit Space SHip Earth in both races... It's time for the finish sprint. Not too fast here as you have a quarter mile to go. You want to meter you energy so you can strongly run the finish chute.

As both races pass back stage at the end, give a smile and draw energy from the Gospel Choir hiding there with .15 miles left. You are home.

Once you pass out of the park you have a jig and a jog then you see the line. You can start to amp up the speed it's still a tenth of a mile so while tempting to sprint, you have a ways to go. Run strong, Run with your head up. Fist pump the crowd. As you approach the line, head up SMILE and leave your Garmin ALONE until after you pass the photographers.

You final emotional moment will come as you well deserved medal is hung around your neck. That small moment of communion is a very special thing that you simply cannot describe or share with anyone else.

Thank you for this and for all of the advice along the way!!

I'm so glad I stumbled across this thread! You all have been inspiring, informative and patient.

I'm sitting here trying (and failing) to get thru this last work day. We leave stl at 715 in the morning. I can't wait!!!

Been reading this thread for a few days since I found it. This will be my first-ever full marathon and I am very excited. Headed down tomorrow morning. Hoping to make it under 4 hours, but we'll see.

Thanks for all of the information!

Hello from Disney world. Got in last night and yes it is hot. Went for a run this morning and for all of you looking to do the same one word Parking. The roads and trails are way to crowded but the parking lots for the parks are huge and empty in the morning a couple of laps around the big lots and you can rack up miles car free.

Just wanted to stop by and wish everyone the very best of luck this weekend! It was watching the tail end of the WDW Marathon last year that convinced me I could try a distance race, so this one holds a special place in my heart, even if I'm not running any of it.

I may make it over on Sun to do some cheering, but in case I can't - run hard and HAVE FUN!!!
