California Grill or Le Cellier?

DH, DD's 10,3,2 and myself will be hitting the world Jan 19 - 25. Ive currently got a ressie for Le Cellier for dinner but am now starting to reconsider. On another thread I started about my ADR's, someone brought up Cali Grill being excellent and informing me that they weren't closed at the time we'll be there as I initially thought We will be on the Basic DP. If Le Cellier would be REALLY worth it for food quality I guess i could burn 2 TS credits there but if Cali Grill is equal or better, and only 1 TS credit, would that be the better decision? Also, what is the dress for CG? I really dont want to dress up all that much just to go to dinner...this makes me sound lazy but with three kids and the two of us, I hate to have to spend the time getting ready and packing the extra bulk just for one dinner. Any thoughts on my crazy ramblings would be greatly appreciated.

In my opinion, California Grill is the far superior restaurant of the two. You and your husband will get to experience one of Disney's "signature dining" restaurants, and the kids menu will still be sure to have something to please your children.

Their dress code:
Men: Khakis, slacks, jeans, dress shorts, collared shirts.
Ladies: Capris, skirts, dresses, jeans, dress shorts.
Not permitted in dining room: Tank tops, swimwear, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing. While T-shirts are now allowed, the policy remains that T-shirts with offensive language or graphics are not acceptable.

By the way, California Grill is 2 table service credits, not 1.

Both Le Cellier and California Grill are 2 TS credits.

Absolutely agree with artnerds that CG is a superior restaurant. There are some other considerations, however. First, CG is signature restaurant, so it is 2 TS credits not 1 as you mentioned in your post. Further, LC is in a park where, in general, dress guidelines are a little more relaxed which is something to consider when you pack. In the end, it depends upon your plans for that day and whether you want to be out of a park to dine that evening.

Although we like the cellier, CG is far superior. I would choose CG any day over le Cellier. The food is much much better IMO.

Maybe we're the odd ones out but we disliked California Grill. We aren't big on sushi so the food was really disappointing. We just found it overrated. The fireworks viewing platform was so crowded that I couldn't get a good view, I was about 3 rows back.

I do not personally think CG is worth the 2TS credits but that is partly due to our preferences in food. We have not eaten at Le Cellier but hope to try it next trip.

They're both 2 TS; however, I prefer Cali Grill. The menu is fantastic, so many options. In terms of dressing up, Disney's dress code is very loose and they rarely enforce it anyway- Just don't wear your swimsuit to the restaurant and you should be fine. Jeans and a Polo/nicer T-shirt is what we usually wear to CG.

Cg

It's much better than LC!!!!

California Grill used to be a wonderful place to go for dinner until they started letting people wear what ever they want!!! It is a finer establishment and dress code should be enforced!! I'm not saying it should be a suit and tie, but a nice shirt and slacks should be worn!! Many people come strolling in the same clothes they wear to Wal-Mart!!

I have never eaten at Le Cellier, but we find the food at California Grill to be WAY overhyped. My husband proposed there during the fireworks, so it holds a special place for us, but not because of the food. We ate at Narcoosee's for the first time on our Honeymoon and it was AMAZING. We WILL be returning there in February!!

I second, third, and fourth that! Narcoosee's is one of my very favorite restaurants at WDW.

I am relieved to hear someone else who feels this way. So many people rave about Le Cellier, and I have never found it to be anything special.
