Cozumel beach day?

We are a party of 4 adults and 6 children. Is the DCL excursion worth the money or is there a place just a good to go on our own? Suggestions most wanted. Thank you!

We were on the Magic a few weeks ago and went to Paradise beach on our own. He walked through the port and caught a taxi. They were very friendly and it costs 20 or 25 dollars to get to the beach. It's $2 pp to get in. My three year old was free. This gets you a beach chair and an umbrella. The pool is amazing and the food was great. The also have water toys in the ocean. It's $12 if you want to use those. I thought it was an amazing value. We maybe spend $60 the entire day for three of us. Much cheaper than a Disney adventure and I never felt unsafe.

We like to go to Paradise Beach - been there 4-5 times, our kids are now 15 and 13, we've all always enjoyed it. They rent chairs for $2, bracelet for water activities (water trampolines, water inflatables to climb, kayaks, etc) for $12 (we just buy the bracelets for the kids, I have no interest in the "toys"). food and drinks are good and reasonably priced. The beach is nice and there is a very large pool too. Cab from ship is reasonable - $15 range.

Here is their website:

In Cozumel, taxi prices are posted on a board at the pier. Paradise Beach was $15 each way PER CAB, not per person + tip. Getting into the beach is free. A chair is $2 (maybe everyone in the group doesn't need/want his own chair). $12 gets a wrist band for all day use of all non-motorized water toys. Don not let the cab driver talk you into a "package" unless you clearly understand what is included and you want it; generally you'll save money by getting just what you want.

+1 for Paradise Beach.

Something not mentioned before is their very nice and huge pool.

We enjoyed Playa Mia, certainly full of kids and likely moreso once the waterslide area is up and running

Another vote here for Paradise Beach -- I can't imagine going to Cozumel and not spending the day there! The staff is so friendly (although I still miss Tom!), the food is great, the facilities are super clean and top notch, and there are so many things for the kids to do. And then there's the pool... Oh man, I love that pool!! When they first built it, I thought "that's silly, I can go to a pool anytime at home", but those half-submerged lounge chairs are just heavenly. I think I spent more time at the pool than at the beach last time there. Love it!!
