So I kept redoing it and still only king beds. So I went to their other 'view resort details' site and checked availability and sure enough under the 'regular' rooms it all says NOT AVAILABLE! What the heck! It's the first week in December it shouldn't be booked. Makes me wonder if I should really wait around for the specials in order to book. But at the same time do I want to stay at a booked resort? Of course maybe its just a conference and all those people will be in business meetings all day.

I don't see any conferences listed on this thread for those dates. Any suggestions???
I think that's when Pop Warner is--from what I read it sounds like rooms are blocked off starting Dec 5 and games start on the 7th. if you're set on those dates, another hotel would probably b a better, less crazy option.

CSR Preferred room

What does preferred room mean at CSR? Are reservations are for preferred rooms. I didn't make the reservations so have no clue what this means for us. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Pop Warner is the second week. It starts the 8th so it shouldn't be affecting my dates. Also I was told they mainly stay at the values and Carribean beach. Not sure how much stock to put into that, but from what I've been told. That is one reason I chose CSR.

There is probably just some huge convention which is fine by me, just means less people on the bus during the day!

It has not been announced where Pop Warner is staying this year, but rumor has it that they will be back at CBR next year. We were stuck with them at CSR last December and we complained at the front desk and we had numerous calls and emails with Guest Relations when we returned. We would NEVER stay where Pop Warner is again...I'd cancel my trip if I had to.

Yes, the A/C at CSR has motion sensors. To bypass them, press the down arrow and the power button at the same time. The letters bp should appear and you can set the temperature as you like. You might have to do this every 24 hours.

Preferred rooms are casitas 1, 2 and 3. They are closer to the main building.

I haven't found any conventions for that week yet, but that doesn't mean something isn't going on. I would keep checking the website for availability.

I meant to come back and post a few pictures after our stay in December for DH's surprise 60th birthday trip. But Christmas was upon us, we've been super busy with wedding plans (can't believe my baby gets married in 27 days). So better late than never...just a few photos around CSR in December:

Be aware. We request a preferred room and were put in the far end of Casitas 4, near Casitas 5. Request Casitas 1 or 2 for the best convenience to El Centro.

If you want a preferred room, you have to pay more for it.

Casitas 1, 2 and 3 are preferred.

Casitas 4 and 5 are a short walk to the main building (less than 5 minutes) and about an eight minute walk to the main pool.

Hi Dave! I went to Buzz's site and to the new page you referenced but couldn't find anything about air conditioners. I'd love to know more info. Is there another place I could look?

Unless things have changed since we were there in December, we have always followed these instructions (located on first page of this thread)

The CSR has Central Air (not wall units). To adjust the temperature, follow these instructions: On the thermostat, push the power button and the down arrow (button that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly, you will see the letters "bp" where the temp normally shows. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. You might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours.

I have also tried to check on room availability starting 11/30 and every day thereafter for two weeks - the only thing that comes up is a King Suite, the rest of the rooms are unavailable.

Surely there isn't a convention or special event that has resevered every single room at CSR for the first two weeks of December?

I had this issue too. I am pretty sure its Pop Warner as someone said they usually block off rooms starting the 5th and when I changed my check out date to the 5th I have full availability. Sigh. Sounds like Pop Warner will be at CSR. Do you think if I call they will tell me which hotels have blocks of rooms for Pop Warner??
