It was our first time staying at CSR Dec. 8 through Dec. 14th. We also used ME for the first time which was great. I would definitely use them again. My mother had called and requested Casitas which wasn't an option when I did online check in. I did prefer a ground floor room since I was pushing around a double stroller our entire trip.

Upon check in, which didn't take very long we were given Cabanas 8A. I asked if there was anything available in Casitas and after the front desk CM placed a phone call we were offered Casitas 5, room 5133 on the ground floor. We took it. It was a short walk to bus stop 2 for first pick up which I wanted.

Hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The main pool which we did use was awesome. The water was warm and the pool was large enough that we weren't bumping into all the Pop Century cheerleaders using it. I didn't use the jacuzzi but it was quite large and looked nice. I was able to have my mug refilled at pool snack/beverage area. You have to ask a CM to fill it for you at the pool area. The baby pool area was well shaded but the water was way cooler than the main pool. We ended up using the main pool due to the temp of the water. They had a DJ playing music and games. Playground was great for my 2 yr old.

Bell hop took us, our luggage and the garden grocer delivery I had placed to our room via golf cart. I was so happy I used garden grocer's, it saved us a lot of money.

I would say it was less than a 5 minute walk from our room to El Centro or the pool area. Just different directions. I didn't mind the walk since I'm more of a busy body type when on vacation. Our room was a standard room. It was large enough for the 4 of us. (My mother went with us this trip while my husband stayed home & worked) We had a pack-n-play delivered to our room within 30 mins of check in. Fridge worked fine. I did have to request that a microwave be delivered to our room.

Our room was mostly clean aside from the bathtub not being cleaned out daily. I could see the ring mark left from the kids baths and our long hair in the tub. And what bothered my mother and I the most was how filthy the carpet was. My kids are young and play/crawl all over the floor. Their hands, arms and knees had dirt marks all over them. They looked like they were playing in dirt outside. And if they had long pants or pj's on, their clothes were left with dirt marks on the knees. I won't even tell you how dirty their white socks were! My mother who is a clean freak was disgusted. I should have made a complaint but I didn't. I didn't want to have to pack all of our stuff back up and move if they had us switch rooms. We just wiped the kids down with a soapy wash cloth every time we left.

We ate breakfast at Pepper's Market once and dinner twice. I had a southwestern omelet for breakfast which I liked. I had a chicken quesadilla for dinner which was good and pasta with meatballs and marinara another night. Pasta was ok. My son had a 9" cheese pizza, it is a very thin crust. He seemed to like it and I thought it was just ok as well. (they do have a kids pizza available at pasta station which I didn't notice till after ordering his)

We ate at Maya Grill once for dinner. It was nice to sit in a quieter restaurant. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were delicious.

Overall, service was great at the restaurants and at the resort period. CM's were friendly and helpful. I've read a few threads lately complaining about CM's and I didn't encounter a problem at all. Throughout our entire stay and at the parks all the CM's were great!

The buses were efficient. I was happy to be at the first pick up since I had to bring a double stroller on the bus every time. A couple times the bus filled up by the 3rd stop and we had to pass up people waiting at the last pick up. I think we were headed to Magic Kingdom that day. (There were also a ton of cheerleaders from the Pop Century convention boarding the buses) so they took up most of the bus. The longest we had to wait for a bus was at Downtown Disney to return to CSR. We waited approx 20 mins.

By the end of the week the National Scholastic Chess tournament kids were there as well. I noticed the resort was much busier. The crowds didn't interfere with our good time though.

Overall, our stay was good. I didn't like the dirty carpet in our room. I did enjoy the pool and having a couple of restaurant options at the resort. I would probably stay at a resort off the monorail next time since my kids will still be young our next trip to WDW. And I would like to experience a different resort as well.

The Christmas decor was beautiful and the hammocks lakeside are great too!

Thanks for the review! CSR is a possibility for our next trip. I can't decided

I think most hotels have that dirty carpet. We travelled some when my oldest DS was 1 and he got dirty to the point where we would just constantly hold him in the room (and these were not Disney hotels). I don't think that the carpets are cleaned all that often, they have to turn over the rooms and a carpet cleaning would take several hours to dry.

ETA: I wonder if you requested a special cleaning prior to arrival (like an allergy cleaning) if that would help? And I think having a child(ren) who don't walk well yet would warrant having the carpets cleaned. The only downside would be that it would be difficult to change your room once you got there.

I had already unpacked our suitcases when my mother pointed out how dirty they were getting. I couldn't not let them play on the floor, especially after being on a plane for a few hours. I've brought them on other trips to other hotels and they've never gotten that dirty. But I understand the hotel can't deep clean the carpets all the time. We survived and still enjoyed our trip!

If I was travelling with my mom, I probably would have done the same...just wipe them off.

My DH, on the other hand, would freak out (hence the not allowing the baby on the floor at all)...it was much easier to do with one baby and several adults though.

Most hotels have this issue. When we checked into CR two years ago they did clean our carpets prior to us checking in (without asking) so I assume someone must have spilled something or who knows. Only reason we knew is it was still carpet cleaner damp with the lines from the cleaner. I guess you could have asked housekeeping to clean the carpets while you were out at the park after discovering the heavily soiled carpets were affecting your little ones, might be worth asking for those in the future who experience this when they have little ones in tow.

Yah, it wouldn't hurt to ask, especially if you know your staying for a week or so.

I don't know what would be worse- little ones picking up dirt or chemical cleaners from the carpet, especially if they are putting their hands in their mouths.

When it comes down to it, unless you put your child in a bubble there is no avoiding things. Either you want to play with whatever was on random peoples shoes, or possibly risk exposure to the carpet cleaner...(both of which are in all our own homes shoes/& chemicals alike.

Anyone who has children know far worse things go in their mouth in the younger ages because they try to put their mouth on pretty much everything they can so I guess as a person you have to choose which is worse on your "feeling" scale and go with it. It was just a suggestion for the dirty carpet is all.

That's nice. Was it a complimentary upgrade?

Congrats on the preferred upgrade. How do you like where you were put versus what you had requested? Enjoy your time there!

I was in Cabanas 8B and my room was super close to the bus stop and very convenient to the pool. I think Cabanas 8A would also work.

I was very disappointed in this too. I am very picky with my coffee but can get by with hot chocolate...always got this at any of the All-Stars & Saratoga Springs.

Princess Half Marathon Weekend Coronado Springs

My husband and I are doing to WDW for the Princess Half Marathon weekend (Feb 22/23). I have a choice between a King room and a Preferred King room (which for some reason the preferred room is slightly cheaper). Which do you recommend? Does anyone know which bus stop is used for the marathon busses? Anyone have any room request suggestions? Are the pools heated? Thanks!
