Costco Character Dining
Ok, I know I could call Disney and ask, but figure I will check here first! This is our first trip booked through Costco, which includes vouchers for free premium character breakfast. Question is - can we use the vouchers for non PREMIUM? Specifically, we want to do Mickey's Surfs Up this trip, instead of our usual Goofy's Kitchen. Anyone know about this?

They are free with the package, so you can use it for any character meal you choose. The value is good for B/L/D at Ariel's Grotto or B/D at Goofy's which are the premium meals. I am sure they would accept it at Surf's Up, if that is where you want to use it.

The fine print on the back will tell you can use it for any dining. We used ours at Blue bayou instead of a character meal.

Wow, really?? I didn't realize they could be used there. As I recall, ours have always only given us a choice between about 3 different character meals. I'm expecting our vacation documents this week & will definitely check on that.

The vouchers have a cash value to them so you can use them anywhere...Even though they call them character meal vouchersThe difference is if you have a premium character meal the voucher includes the price, tax and tip. If you use it at a place like BB or CCT, you would subtract the cash value from our total bill and does not include tax and tip.

They can be used at any of the character meals or used as a voucher for any meal. They are worth their stated value. So if you go to another sit down location or even a counter services, you can use the voucher like cash. HOWEVER, you will not get change back if you use less then they are worth. So if you have a $39 voucher and buy $29 at a counter service, they will not give you $10 back in change. Use it our lose it all at one time basically.

Thanks for the info! I'd rather go to the BBQ than a character meal.

We just got back from using our premium character dining vouchers from Costco at Blue Bayou, Cafe Orleans and the PCH Grill. Each one was worth $40 toward our dinners. No change can be given. Oddly enough, PCH Grill "had" to add on an automatic gratuity per the manager. I would've tipped that much any way, but I still found it weird.
You can use them at Surf's Up, but you might consider using 1 less than is required for your party, pay a little bit in cash, and then use the last one toward another meal to get the full value of them. If I am calculating correctly, you would "lose" $10 per voucher if you use one per person. You also might want to double check with the PCH Grill itself to make sure it wouldn't be doing some fancy math and require you to use one per person. |
