What happens if "your" cruise is changed to a "DVC CRUISE"

?? If your booked cruise is changed to a DVC cruise and you are not a DVC member, what happens to your existing reservation??

From what I understand, they will contact you and you will either have to move the date or cancel. Only members and their families are allowed on a DVC member cruise.

I see your upcoming cruises in your post, but how did you find out it was a DVC cruise?

In the past, when ANY group has chartered the entire ship and there are existing reservations, DCL has offered the guests with those reservations the option of a full refund or moving their reservation...sometimes with some incentives for moving.

DVC is just another group in that sense. You belong to the group or you don't go on the cruise.

Not sure that's what's happening, but the Sept 29th cruise has disappeared from from the DCL website.
We just re-booked this cruise on our Sept 2nd Magicm and it was still there early last week, now it's gone while all other Sept '13 cruises are still showing.

I was just about to come here to ask this... I'm so worried. PI and JQ didn't seem to get much information from calling.

If they end up changing it, FI and I will probably end up just staying longer at WDW for our HM and skip cruising entirely. I don't think we'll try again in the future either since we'd be wanting to cruise at the same time for anniversaries. I don't think I could take the stress of the possibility that they could always kick us off. Which I find ridiculous. We booked last year and were paid in full long before the one year mark...

FI keeps saying that everything will work out and to not worry until we have official news, but I'm bummed and sorry that I brought it to everyone's attention making everyone else worried too. Fingers crossed that they leave our cruise alone.

I read a book titled "Everything I Ever Needed to Know, I Learned in Kindergarden"... one of the principle things was SHARING!! Is there really that may DVC people that want to cruise at the same time? I can see a business doing this, and closing for the event, but a group such as DVC isn't like that.

There must be enough interest from DVC members because DCL has at least one members only cruise every year, and has been doing them for many years.

Could it be that they have changed the dates for the dry dock? The Magic is supposed to be in dry dock for a few weeks right after the Med cruises next summer, and they may have had to change the dates. Not sure what they could tell you, but it might be worth a call to try and find out what happened to that cruise.

PI and JQ are fellow cruisers who were calling DCL and DVC to get more information about what's going on with this cruise.

I might be reading this wrong so if I did I do apologize. The cruise in question is on the Deeam. Now maybe the Dream is going to Dry Dock as I don't believe she has had one and needs 2 every 5 years I believe. Also it is the right time of year for the members sailing. I am on the 9/29/13 cruise as my friend is getting married on it. We are just waiting and already have a back up plan.

DVC member cruises have traditionally booked up in the first day they were offered--this when they were doing just one per year. Now that they have added an additional cruise, it doesn't seem to be filling--I keep getting ads for it. These cruises are significantly more expensive than other cruises of the same length/surrounding dates.

As to sharing--it is up to DVC/DCL to set their policy.

However.....since they KNOW they are going to do these cruises, I feel that they should be blocked off in the schedule before there is any possibility of the "general public" booking them if those individuals will not be allowed to cruise. Honestly, for anything short of an emergency with one of the vessels, they should not be canceling cruises after people have booked them.

They did a charter cruise for the LAST Med last year. Total bummer as there were lots of people who had booked a B2B last Med + WBTA. Made no sense to me--let the company charter an earlier cruise! Lots of upset guests, etc.

I doubt we'll ever do one of the DVC Member cruises bcuz they DO charge more...combined with that they always do them in the "off" seasons (during school). Anyway, I think they used to sell out on day #1 when they were on the Wonder - much smaller ship. Now they're trying to fill the Dream which is so much larger. That's where I think they went wrong when they added a 2nd one.

There were a lot of really upset peeps last summer on that last Med cruise that were "displaced". Many already had their travel plans in place by the time they did it and I don't think DCL went out of their way to compensate them very much for the inconvenience. That last cruise was much cheaper than the earlier ones and I don't think they even offered discounts to switch dates. In addition to THAT mess we were originally booked on a 10 night Med that year and about 3 or 4 months after they released them for booking they switched all of the ones from the end of July thru the rest of the summer to 7 night ones. Again, no choices were really offered other than move your date to earlier in the summer (which were more expensive) or switch to one of the 7 nighters. Sorry to say it, but, DCL really doesn't give 2 hoots about their PR on this type of thing.

Just off the Dream today and there were around 700 DVC members on it. This was a cruise not chartered by or for DVC with that many members, so I'm thinking there is definitely the interest there by DVC folks to sail.
