For a long sit down meal I always enjoy the Lunch Buffet at the Crystal Palace(it's a Pooh Character lunch). Requires a reservation.

For a quick service meal I eat at Cosmic Ray's, has a wide variety of food.

If not in the MK and looking for a fun place for a Birthday, Beaches and Cream at the Yacht & Beach Club resort has a fun atmosphere.

Quick service or table service? Character meal? What does the 4 year old like to eat? All of these things matter.

If he likes dinosaurs or jungle animals - T-Rex or Rainforest Cafe.

QS for a bday party??????? I will assume the OP is asking for TS restaurant, not a quick service.

I think Crystal Palace, Tusker House, or Chef Mickeys are great for your son's age. CP & TH both have better food than CM's. But CM's has the fab 5. Although Tusker is pretty close, they have daisy, donald, mickey and goofy. Plus the food (breakfast only) is fabulous. Lunch was decent but not my cup of tea to be honest. I found bfast to be much better.

I agree with the pp about TREX. Looove that place! Great theme and food. Checkout the iceroom meteor showers on youtube!

My DS turns 4 the week after we are at WDW next month. We are planning to celebrate his birthday at Chef Mickey. The food is okay (nice selection) but the characters are great!

Do what we do...give him a choice. First, ask him what he would want to eat on his special day then pull up some restaurants that offer that and let him pick from 2 or 3.

Our DS loves to do that. It makes it super special because he knows it's for him. It doesn't put us out any more than us planning and picking and shuffling. He's turning 7 next week when we go and he has picked every year since he turned 3. It's been different every single time as well as ranging from CS to TS to character meals to grabbing something from the carts and walking around. It makes it just that more special for us because we know he's happy and we don't second guess if he is going to like the food or the place.

This year is T-Rex and a dole whip later; last year was Via Napoli; the year before was Teppan Edo; the year before that was Garden Grill and cotton candy.
