Anyone else feeling meh about Christmas prep this year?
I really love Christmas, and am always sad when it's over. But this year, I'm totally meh about getting ready for it.
Although I shop all year and am almost done, I haven't wrapped a thing. I haven't baked anything or made Christmas cards. I'm looking at the Christmas tree. The lights are still sitting on the floor in front of it. The ornaments aren't even up from the basement yet. And I really do love just gazing at it all month, so why am I avoiding decorating? Oh yeah and nothing else is decorated except the wreath on the front door. I'm sure part is due to being tired. Working part time, kids, parents, inlaws. You know the drill. Kids will help if / when I ask them. Until then they're busy with HW and other stuff. There will be so much activity soon with events to attend, baking, wrapping, parties ect, so I know I should be getting busy now. But instead, here I sit reading the DIS, FB, watching the news. Sigh... Anyone else feel this way? Any advice?

Thanksgiving came early this year so maybe it will take you a week longer to get into the spirit.
For us, we are going to be at WDW for Christmas and we decided as a family to be very low-key around the house for Christmas. There's no rule that says you need to put up every decoration and bake every cookie you have in year's past. Sometimes we just need a break. No need to feel guilty! Don't know how old your kids are, but maybe put them "in charge" of the decorations.

Sounds like we are twins. I love Christmas also! But I am having a rough time building up my Christmas spirit. I am constantly worrying. Yeh, of course, about money. Every penny I spend I am worrying about whether I should of saved it for something else. I am driving myself nuts. Need to calm down and just enjoy the holiday.

Yeah, you could say I feel the same. It feels really bittersweet as this is the last major holiday DH and I will have alone as a couple before our son/daughter enters the picture. (ok, I'm teary!) I'm not sure why it makes me feel all emotional, but I definitely am about it.

It's only NOV 27th, don't fret.
![]() It usually takes a good first snowfall to get me in the mood but with the unusual weather pattern we're in, I doubt we'll see any anytime soon. ( I really only like it on Christmas day)

I love Christmas and have been holding myself back! I think the PP who said it could be because Thanksgiving came early is right. I wanted to make Christmas cookies and candies today but thought it was to early, still being November!

Although we have decorated and I have purchased 4 gifts and ordered our Christmas cards yesterday, I would in no way say that it's time to stress over what we haven't done, yet. In fact, I am proud of what we have already done!
Sometimes you just gotta give yourself a break. It's ok!!! |

I am 34 weeks pregnant and my doctor wants to induce on Jan 2. Yeah......I'm having a bit of a hard time concentrating on Christmas!!! I know that I should get everything ready early....the shopping and whatnot....but I just can't concentrate on anything not baby related. I jokingly told dd and ds that they're getting a pack n play and a high chair, respectively, for Christmas.

Count me in, also.
![]() Our outside lights are up, only because my husband took the initiative. Our tree isn't up, I've bought nothing, baked nothing. I haven't even addressed the Christmas cards yet. ![]() I'm watching every single Christmas movie/cartoon/program on TV, listening to Christmas music daily, but I just can't get into the spirit this year. I think part of my problem is I'm still nursing this ankle injury that happened the week before we went to WDW. The bills are piling up, I've been hurting for nearly 3 months now, but no resolve yet. It has been weighing heavily on my mind. I go back to the podiatrist tomorrow for what hopefully will be the final verdict as to whether or not I need surgery. Maybe once I know, I can move on and start getting things together. Please keep your fingers crossed that I don't need surgery.

OP here. THANKS ALL for the feedback everyone!! ![]() Good to know I'm not alone. Yeah, since Thanksgiving was so early, it's probably part of it. And no snow! ![]() And thanks DeluxePrincess, I really appreciate the thought, it helps alot. And isn't it funny how we (maybe just me?) almost need *permission* not to do it all, and to give ourselves a break? Quote:
Fingers crossed! That could definitely put a damper on Christmas spirit. I sure hope you won't need surgery and your pain subsides. Keep us posted. ![]() I too have a few things weighing heavily on my mind and that's probably part of it. Its hard to just put it all aside, even though I know I will when the holidays get closer. Since I first wrote earlier tonight, I did get the lights on the tree and we brought of the ornaments. Baby steps LOL
