Bringing Cake from Boardwalk Bakery - The DIS Discussion Forums

Hello fellow DISer's. We have ordered cakes before and had them delivered at WDW, but has anyone done this?:

I want to buy the small Mickey head cake from the Boardwalk Bakery and bring it to our lunch at Tony's in MK. If I give it to the hostess when I check in, will our server be able to bring it to our table after we eat? I would order a cake, but the smallest they have is a 6 inch and I really can't see DH, me and DD (who will be turning 2) eating it all after and having it wasted. Plus, we are heading to the airport after MK that day.

Thoughts? Any and all help is appreciated! TIA!

Probably not. Most Health Department regulations prohibit the bringing of outside food into a restaurant kitchen.

However, more than likely you would be allowed to bring in the cake and the server could bring you plates for it and silverware.

Awhile back we had a post from someone who tried this. They wanted to surprise a birthday person, so they bought a cake at Boardwalk Bakery and tried to carry it into Chef Mickey's (trying to save money rather than ordering a cake to be delivered to the restaurant).

They posted as being VERY upset that the restaurant would allow them to bring the cake in, but they had to keep it at the table and serve it themselves. The restaurant would not store it in the kitchen or provide personnel to serve it.

If this is the case for you, you can bring the cake in, but the restaurant won't allow it to be kept in the kitchen and they won't bring it to your table at the conclusion of the meal.

Thanks for the input. It's really not a money issue, I just don't want to waste cake we won't eat or be able to save. Now we have to decide whether to just serve her a little cake or order the 6 inch anyway and whatever we don't eat, we don't eat. I'd really love for it to say Happy Birthday or something on it. Thanks guys.

Why not have WDW Dining set it up, so the cake is at the restaurant?
