How is the bus system @ OKW? - The DIS Discussion Forums

We'll have a rental car for about 5 days but the first few we don't have one booked...so is the bus system okay from OKW to TTS?

The OKW bus doesn't go to the Ticket and Transportation Center. They go to the theme parks, water parks and Downtown Disney. I have never had a problem with a bus at OKW.

oh okay? So, call me daft b/c we've never stayed onsite, so how does one get to the MK?

The Disney onsite resorts (including OKW) have direct buses to the MK. They unload near the where the boats unload.

oh sweet! I thought we'd have to take the monorail to get there. I like this idea better

We're having a rental car though so we can go shopping at the outlets and be able to find off site restaurants.

There are 5 bus stops at OKW, so they will be convenient no matter where in the resort your room is located. Buses run to/from destinations about every 20 minutes or so.

We vowed to never stay at OKW again solely because of the buses. Having to take a bus to get to the pool is not my idea of a vacation.

While it is certainly your prerogative to take the bus to the main pool at OKW, it isn't necessary to do so. There is nowhere in the resort that is more than a 5-10 minute walk to the pool. We have walked there from all areas. It is such a beautiful resort that the walk is always part of the fun for us. There are also several quiet pools throughout the resort that are more convenient to the more remote neighborhoods.

OP, as long as you go into it knowing that there are several bus stops at OKW you'll be fine. All have their advantages/disadvantages, but all will get you where you need to go. We have always had great bus service at OKW and never use our car when we are there.

We haven't had any problems at OKW that you wouldn't find at other resorts.. We find the buses to MK better than the buses at the BWV that share with other Epcot resorts and are often full and seem to take forever. A car is nice for getting off property but I would not drive to MK to avoid an OKW bus ride.

The bus service at OKW is fine. We park our car in front of the room when we get there and dont move it until we leave for home. The boat to DTD is lots of fun also. Have fun, relax, and leave the driving to them!

I agree, the buses at OKW are really good. There are other pools besides the main pool. Also don't forget the boat to Downtown Disney, it's a really beautiful trip.

One tip if you are in HH area for your room - the bus doesn't stop here until the LAST stop, even though you drive by it when entering the resort - just get off the first bus stop and walk over the bridge to HH area. MUCH quicker than taking the bus around the whole resort.

We enjoy walking the resort, but the buses are generally fine. We are long-time members and have only rarely rented a car.

There are times in the mid-afternoon when the wait can be a little longer, but that's pretty much true at any of the resorts.

That is probably the ONLY thing that makes me consider HH when I'm booking. If I'm there in the winter when it's likely to be cold, I do like that option of choosing where to get off early. My biggest complaint about HH is that the rooms don't have the second door to the bathroom for guests who stay in the living room. Now granted, we never have that situation, but I still like having the two doors to the toilet.
