Men on formal night??

Is shirt and tie okay? Or do they need a jacket?

Thanks,

A shirt and tie is fine. You'll see everything from jeans with holes in them to tux and military uniforms. If you don't need a jacket for another purpose (going to Remy?), I probably wouldn't haul one just for formal night.

However...one IS required in Remy.

Some don't dress up at all. So shirt and tie is just fine. Of course DH wears a suit on formal night. But it is not required. The only place that a suit/jacket is required is at Remy.

My DH wears khakis and a nice polo. Other men wear dress shirts or jackets.

When we went they were super relaxed on this...shirt and tie or shirt and jacket would be my suggestion.

I agree with all of the others. After cruising a couple of weeks ago, I saw a mixture of everything. Really, anything that you feel comfortable in.

When we cruise again, I would hope that DH would not pack his suit jacket as it takes up too much space.

DH takes a sports coat and slacks, but has stopped packing suits. I think the only reason he still wears the sports coat is because I put DCL buttons on it, purchased off ebay. They're the same type of gold buttons the crew has on their jackets. I assume the buttons were recycled from a worn out crew uniform. Very subtle, with the cruise logo.

I didn't want him to notice the change of buttons ahead of time, so I took a needle and thread on the cruise and did some secretive sewing while he was reading on the veranda. Totally oblivious.

Then he didn't even notice the buttons when he put on the jacket for family pictures on formal night, so I had both kids compliment him on the buttons.

We rarely ever get to dress up so I think we are both going to wear suits for formal night and dress nicely even for "cruise casual" nights.

Having taken my blazer last time, I will not be this time as we sail over Christmas week on The Magic. This time I'm taking two dressy vests instead. They will take up much less space and weight and can be dressed up nicely. Those of us in jackets were in a distinct minority anyway.
