Staying at AKL, allowed to spend time at Poly?

We are renting DVC points to stay at AKL. We are considering staying at the Polynesian for one night. It looks beautiful, and I'd like to experience it, but it's also more expensive and would require us to switch hotels, which would be slightly inconvenient.

How much of Poly would we be allowed to experience as an AKL guest (renting DVC points)? Is it worth spending $200 extra just for a night at Poly? THe rooms don't really look like they'd make it worth it for us, but the grounds and the pool look pretty great...

You can take advantage of everything at the Poly with the exception of the pools and rooms (of course).

Yes, as a non-resort guest pools are off limits, but you can walk around, eat at the restaurants, rent a boat at the marina, shop, I love looking at the Wayland Gallery.

The benefit of the Poly is the monorail to MK and you can walk over to the Epcot monorail, hardly worth it for only one night.
If you want to get a feel for the Poly w/out packing up and moving for only 1 night, make a reservation to eat at Ohana or Kona and arrive for dinner a bit early. You can monorail over from Epcot or MK, wander the grounds, go down to the beach and then enjoy dinner. The lobby is quite tropical w/ the water feature, but it's always busy as there are lots of casual visitors @ the Poly, and it's not nearly as grand as the lobby @ Jambo, IMO.
Plus, there is a lot to do @ AKL, take that spare $2/300 and do the Wanyama safari/dinner, for example. You can enjoy the pools at Jambo and at Kidani. There's kid's activities, and I think a tour of the restaurants.
