Booking Palo for 6 staterooms/9 adults

Hi there!

We have 6 staterooms booked on an upcoming Alaska cruise. We would like to reserve Palo for all 9 adults together. Do you have suggestions on how to make this happen, since we are a large group? If it makes a difference, 2 of us are Platinum members (one is an adult, the other is a child, in 2 different rooms.) Thanks for any advice.

To book the private dining room in advance, you must have 12 people. Key is IN ADVANCE. After you are on the ship and a party of 12 doesn't already have the room, they are happy to move you to it.

The key is to make reservations for the same night and as close to the same time as you can get them. You will only be able to do tables for 2 or 4--no problem. After you board, go to the location listed for "Palo Ressies." Talk to the manager and he will be happy to arrange what you need.

Obviously, to get the reservations as close together as possible, book them as soon as each window opens....but don't worry if you can't get them all coordinated in advance--the manager WILL take care of it for you.

Since you do not have enough people to reserve the private room beforehand, you need to just try to make reservations as windows open on the same day as close together as possible. You will only be able to make reservations for the number of adults in each room as that window opens. There is a table outside of the private room that seats 8-10 so you can request that. They may have pushed two tables together, but it worked and was out of the way for a group to talk and not disrupt quiet dinners for two around them. It is always easier to adjust Palo reservations than get new ones, depending on the cruise that is. When you board, have one person go to Palo [or where ever they are having the Palo desk set up then] with all of the reservation numbers and the names/room numbers of everyone -- even those who did not get a reservation who you would like to add to the list. As the manager to merge them and seat you all together. Be prepared to leave a copy of the list so that they have the chance to work on it and get back to you with confirmation. This has worked with us in the past for a large group at brunch [in addition to the private room with 14 people].

Thanks for the info. Here's another question...can the Platinum guests book the Gold guests at 120 days out, if the gold guests are paid in full and the reservations are linked? Or, do the platinum book and then wait til the 105 day mark for gold?

Gold and silver will have to wait until their reservation time opens. Try to make what you can. If the times do not line up, go to Palo when you get on the ship and switch it then. If you get there when they open on your embarking day, then you most likely will be able to get what you need.

This is based on my experience on a mostly full ship this past June with my group.

Good luck!

Each stateroom must book at its own window. Really, this reservation isn't a big deal. Do the best you can on line, and then let the manager make the magic happen for you. As above, it is easier to move and adjust existing reservations than to start with none, so you do want to make a reservation for each party on the same night and as close as possible to what you want.

Just go to the Palo ressie place as soon as reasonably possible after boarding and explain the situation to them. The longer you wait, the more full (and less flexible) they will be.
