strategy for sunday crowds and rain help?
Our first day in the park in 2 years will be this sunday, which will most likely be raining. We've never been this late in December before (or when crowds are this big), we won't have early entry (aps), and now there's the crowds for carsland so we need some strategy help!
We have a big kid and a 2 year old that can't go on the tall rides. We also have a GAC, but we still try to do low line rides first, go at rope drop, and take breaks in the afternoon (strategy in the past is always fantasyland first). We will be there all week. Which park would be better for Sunday morning, considering the rides that might be closed in the rain? Does RSR close in the rain? Or should we avoid DCA because of MM? If we end up at DCA, does bugsland close in the rain? I'll need something to do with the 2 year old while the others are on the big rides.

If you want to ride RSR, it almost with will most likely be down if it is raining. They will still issue FP at regular park opening, but if it's down most of the morning they will most likely issue less FP's for the day and they will run out quickly.
If possible, I would also avoid DCA on an EMH day in the morning if possible due to the lines being slightly longer when you enter the park. We did DCA on a non EMH day during our recent trip and everything was real managable most of the day. |

We were there Friday Nov 30th in the rain. It was early entry at DCA but the rain kept crowds very manageable. We pulled 2 FPs for RSR and used the 9:30 am one around 10. We were never able to use the 5:30 pm one as teh ride went down early afternoon and it never came back up. B/c of that - they did honor the FP the next day. We were told they only do this if the ride never comes back up. If it does on and off and you just miss that window - you are out of luck. Ask Otto was our friend - we called him often for RSR status.
Bugsland was fine in the rain - I took DD5 on a couple rides there when the others rode Tower of Terror. Goofy's Sky School was also down most of Friday - not sure if this was due to rain or just a coincidence. We were only spending 2 days in the parks so wanted to try RSR both days to give us the best chance of getting on it at some point. The rain affected crowds more than early entry. You will have a great time! |

We were there a week ago on Sunday in the rain. The morning was fine and we were able to get a lot done, but after lunch the crowds came in. Even in the rain, things continued as normal. They did shut down autopia for a while, but the crowds remained. I expected things to die down but they never did.
