Oh no. I am so sorry. I've told you before but we have Fluffy because of Remy's cuteness. It wore me down and I caved and boy do I love our little girl. So thank you Remy you gave us joy thanks to your cuteness!

I'm truly sorry for your loss. He was a cute lil guy, and looked just like my ham ham, Wiggles. RIP Remy.

He looks like our Donut. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. They may be tiny, but they sure do take up a lot of space in our hearts.

Who would have thought a little guy like that could help bring joy to people so far away?

So true. Even though he was "just a hamster", he was loaded with personality and had a whole routine with us every night. Even last week when he was sick and sleeping, he heard DD's voice and stood up and began walking toward her. We were amazed that even in his sick state he would do that.

Aww, I'm sorry. It's amazing how those little hammies and gerbils can wiggle their way into your heart. A lot of people think of them as "just rats", but they are so personable and friendly. I know you will miss him a lot

I'm so sorry to hear about Remy.

It seems silly, but I still miss my hamster Stella who passed away probably 5 years ago. She was the sweetest thing and would never bite. We had her for 3 years which is a long time for a hamster. I even took her with me on the airplane (had to get her a special carrier) when we moved from FL to VA! You should've seen the looks I got when I went through security! I feel your pain. It's hard when these critters get sick, because not a lot of vets will treat them.

Anyway- I hope my Stella and your Remy are playing together, over the Rainbow Bridge. :hugs:

Aww. Cute story.

We did go to a vet (different from our own, which was a recommendation from him when our last hamster became sick). It was really funny - they brought out the "gram scale" (Remy weighed just 9 grams) and a tiny little stethoscope. They tried to help him.

You know, it's strange, and I know all you animal lovers will understand this. If you don't go, and they die, you kick yourself for not going. If you do go and they die, you kick yourself for going. Remy had fluids injected under his skin (at least 3 sticks), and I know it hurt him. They also did some kind of probing of his butt to see if there was anything going on there. We also had to give him medications, which was a trip, and I'm sure couldn't have been pleasant. After all that, when I saw it was futile, we just let hiim be, in peace. I'd been torn about going in the first place. But I just wanted to give him a chance if he had something treatable. Now I feel sort of badly that that was unpleasant for him. But I'm sure, somehow, he knew we were trying to do the right thing. It's just sad to think about now.

Even though we knew he was dying that afternoon, you still wonder if maybe he's just sick and this will be something he gets over. Like pneumonia. DD and I put a small piece of pastry in front of him, and he perked up and walked over to it, and began nibbling on it. Then he stopped, walked back over to the nest DD had made for him, buried his head in the bottom, and never woke back up. Poor DD had to go babysit a few minutes after he died. She was good, though. She'd been through this before with Gus, our dark gray hamster.
