Good evening ladies!

Candace - I refuse to read the names and look at the pictures, it is just too hard. I get tears whenever I think about it. Our school is like that too, buzzed in, monitored at all exit doors, etc, but like you said evil always finds a way. Oooohhhhhh a CL secret, that could be fun And thank you for the date night suggestions for my friend, she is a New Englander of course. Oh speaking of which, did you see the Pats are wearing tributes on their jerseys and helmets tomorrow and Gillette is shooting off 26 flares in memory of the victims.

Jen – unfortunately DS19 has experienced a lock down, and that school was locked up tight There was an armed robber close by on the run, so they didn’t take any chances and locked down the school. It was horrifying to hear, but I was so happy the school didn’t take any chances with the students. I know our little ones practice for a “code red” and that just makes me sad On a happy note, HOPING FOR A BIG DISCOUNT FOR YOU

i_heart – I am armed and dangerous with over $500 of Dis GC’s from target, bought with my RedCard at a discount (as well as GC’s for the teachers and some other needed items) and now $160 in Target GC’s burning a hole in my wallet DH and DS19 helped me max out the GC deal last week and this week, LOL! Yes, I definitely have my own rollecoaster, but it is what keeps life interesting

Ginny – thank you for the Jiko suggestion, I have passed it along. Yes, I keep getting yelled at from DH that I act like I never had surgery and am doing this to myself I promise to slow down and take care of myself (well after this week).

Jeanette – thanks for the hugs. Today we read that the shooter had Autism or even specifically Asperger’s which of course scares the crap out of us. But I honestly see my sweet lovable DS change on a dime and his whole personality changes. We have talked at length to a psychiatrist and have read a lot of studies that say that the SSRI’s that the shooter was on can be very dangerous in autistic people. The hormones respond completely differently, I wonder how much that played into what happened. Like you said no excuses, but I totally agree that mental health needs to be much more supported in this country. When I had post partum psychosis (yes add that to my rollercoaster life, lol) my health insurance didn’t see it as a life threatening ailment and kept all the low mental health benefits.

Wookie – OMG, can I just say keep the John-ism coming on FB!!!! I laughed so har , but could totally see it! My DS19 was impressed with his understanding of the space time continuum! My life’s motto has become “It is what it is”, I learned early on that I can’t change most of it, just embrace everything that comes my way and do what I need to do, but in that time I have learned that “Candy is dandy, but liquor is DEFINITELY quicker”

---------------------------------------------
So every year DH’s company has a BIG holiday party, we rent out a club at the Hard Rock Hotel and it is wild. It is the one time a year that I go all out, sexy dress, heels that make me taller than DH, hair, makeup and nails done of course. Well with everything going on this year it seemed that none of that was happening. Today we get a text that there will be a holiday party (at a different club) THIS THURSDAY! Now we are usually just coming back from a cruise so I am at my low weight but this year with no cruise or beach vacation and all the stress I am at my all-time heaviest weight Not to mention that my hair and nail girls are both already booked for Thursday. Did I mention that both little kiddos have school holiday parties on Thursday as well? Oh and I will be at the allergist all day on Wednesday with DS9. So Monday morning I will set out to the mall to try to find a dress and pray that my friend who works for MAC can do my makeup on Thursday. I’ll have to settle for the local nail place and just make time somehow, and just figure out what to do with my hair myself. Its stressful but at least a fun stressful (if that makes sense).

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I think we all need another round of

Melissa

I have not forgotten about you all, just crazy busy since we got back and will be heading back down on the 27th.

Did want to mention that Newtown is about 10 miles down the road and 2 towns over. We cannot escape the horror. One of the little girls is the daughter of a coworker of my husband. It is truly unimaginable, the more questions that are answered the more questions there are. The towns in our area are all connected.,,they run one into the other. We live in the greater danbury area...if there is a big box store or chain restaurant, there is one of them...we all go to the same place...the same target, the same mall, the same chilis.. All the area schools were on some type of lockdown yesterday.., at my sons high school, they stayed in the same class, closed the doors and a couple of police officers were out front.

Please keep the families, first responders, the community and area towns in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks. Cynthia

The school district the boys used to be in, you couldn't get into the school without ringing a buzzer. When you buzzed it, they asked for your name, why you were there, and then buzzed you in. The boys new schools are different. They both have a set of 4 doors followed by a small empty space and then another set of 4 doors. After you enter the first set of 4 doors, there is a door to the right that goes into the office. The first set of 4 doors, there is only one door you can open and the other set, you can't open any. This forces you into the office. Then in order to get into the school, you have to be buzzed through the door by the secretary. Luckily, each school has at least one officer on campus at all times.

Thanks. He has also always have a firm grasps on black holes and DNA. In first (or maybe it was 2nd) grade he had to change to a different school to get more help. When he did, he drew his teacher a picture of his DNA. As he gave her the picture, he pulled out several strands of hair. Her told her that if she eve missed him, she could use the hair to clone him and use the map of his DNA he gave her to make sure she used the right hairs.

I can't even imagine what it must be like for the first responders. Have you seen the picture of FB that has the address of the school, encouraging people send cards of support to the school. I thought about sending one, but I'm not sure if a lot of mail is something the school needs right now.

Well I am just drained. I got about 4 1/2 hours of sleep last night. I was supposed to make the sauce for the lasagna tonight, but there is not room in the frig. Or should I say no room in any one of the three frig's we have. I'll have to get up early tomorrow to start it. Plus we'll have to decorate the cakes tomorrow. We took the DSs to see The Hobbit and we all loved it!! Then I got the DH to talk about our WDW trip. He knows he doesn't want to go again and deal with June crowds, so it's down to December and January. I can't get him to agree to talk to his parents right now b/c they "are stressed enough". It's looking more and more like we'll be doing January 2014, and be there for the youngest's 15th bday.

Melissa: and Candace: The DD's schools have practiced the lockdown procedure about once or twice a year, but I have never really stopped to pay attention to the whole thing. I will now. I agree though that evil will find a way in, even with the best security.

Wookie: Good luck with all the party drama...

Cynthia: Sending all my thoughts and hugs for all those in your area that have been touched by this senseless tragedy.

I can't even imagine when they are going to be back in that school. If you were inclined to send a note or card, I might suggest the newtown police dept ( they have 40 officers) the sandy hook fire station ( they are all volunteer) or the school district central office.

I hope y'all are all having great weekends!! Ours has been good, but I am just soooo tired!!! Yesterday we saw The Hobbit with the DSs. Today I made homemade spaghetti sauce to make lasagna for my sil's 40th birthday. Also, I made garlic cheese bread to go with it. I made enough for 17 people to eat, the sil took some home with her, and we still have left overs. Luckily every one has gone home, so I can get my last bit of school work done. Well that's if I don't fall asleep at the laptop doing it.

Good evening Ladies. It has been a crazy week, Pain has been an issue since my surgery a week ago Friday. This past week I spent Thursday in the ER, and was sent home in the later afternoon with different pain meds. I was back in the ER Friday morning and was admitted to the hospital. We are working on establishing a good pain management protocol, however in the meantime my potassium levels dropped. The doctors are hoping all is about sorted out and I will be going home either tomorrow or the next day. Good news is the surgery was successful and the trip has not been canceled. Fingers crossed I will be on my way in 15 days!

I have been reading along. Again I seems like some people are doing well, other suffering from bumps in the road. I hope everyone had a great weekend and is getting ready for Christmas. I think the horrible events of this past week gives us all pause and let us realize how blessed we all are.

Hopefully I will stay on the path to recovery and won't be a stranger to the thread.

Hugs to everyone

Hi Sarah, I was just thinking of you today. So sorry for what you are going through with your pain, sending even more hugs. I am so glad to hear your trip is still on, maybe it will be just what the doctor ordered.

Happy Monday Everyone

Sarah - I'm saddened to hear that you are experiencing so much pain. I hope the Dr. can get it under control very soon. Great news about the surgery being a success though. It's nice to see you posting!

I can't be the only one who didn't want to let my babies go off to school today. I know it's not rational, but...

We got a message over the weekend that in addition to the buzzer system that we already have, that they are adding police officers at the entrances. It's all just so sad the the world we live in has come to this
