Jeanette: Yay, glad the conferences went well! Ah, boo to crazy work schedules... you are a saint.

Wookiee: YEEEEEEAAH for WL! Not-so-yeeeeeah for haunted rooms... I'm hearing the Twilight Zone theme in my head now.

Candace: I agree about packing the least amount of clothes as possible. This Jan. thing will be a total shock to the system. I'm not going to know what to pack.

Melissa: You know how "There's No Crying in Baseball"? ... well "There's No Mental Institutes at Disney." Wine and Disney... or was that Vodka? Can't wait to hear how it goes.

I_Heart: We anxiously await your news. You'll be happy to know that the $66 worth of junk did not include a Reindeer Poop keychain. (I should probably not mention -- but I will anyway -- that during one visit to Vermont, I bought my hubs a magnet of a moose head made out of shellacked moose-poop. )

Heya Marie! Getting closer to January and your new co-worker!

This took so long to write I'm sure I'll have missed at least a good helping of replies.

What would I do without you? Seriously. I was in such a funk and now I'm sitting here cracking up. Thanks!

Seeking advice.....

So, long story short....I am going to ask management at work for a raise.

I am coming up on my 3 year anniversary with my company, but I have been in this industry for almost 13 years (lots of experience). I took a very large pay cut when I came on board here and still have not made it up 100%. I knew that when I took the job, they didn't pay as well as other companies but the work environment was amazing -- and it is. But, in the past 3 years, they have started to change their philosophy regarding pay and have been bringing people on at significantly more than they used to...resulting in less tenured people making more than me.

My BFF had the cahones to go in and ask for a raise today....a few hours later, they told her that she would be getting a $9k raise starting Monday.

I am so bad about this sort of thing, but I have to do it. Because I think as long as you don't say anything, they are not just going to raise your salary, but for those who ask, will receive....

I am going to ask based on my experience, and my performance with the company...which has been excellent...but I am soooooo scared!!!!! I'm going to do it on Dec 14th (my 3rd anniversary)...just building my case...

Has anybody done this before and can offer tips???

I have been out of the work environment for too long to give any advice, but I can offer this.... I hope you get every penny you deserve

Hi RC friends,
What a day. A few hours ago DS called, the college he works at was on lockdown. He was locked in his work area, with other employees and students. I was just trying to sound calm, and listen, but it was so scary.
He just called back and said they lifted the lockdown, closed the campus for the rest of the day. Both ABC and NBC are reporting there was a fatality. In the meantime, he's off to to meet his wife for lunch. Good plan.
I am so relieved he's safe.

Getting him up and moving in the AM is becoming a little less of a chore this yr. too, I think that's just because he doesn't want to walk in minus 20 degree celcius weather to school, and he knows if he's not up and in the car by 7:30, my work comes first and I'll drive away without him if need be!!! He hasn't tested me yet, so that's good.
The only way that I found teens are better than toddlers is teens allow you to sleep later.

I think Kidani is still the resort that will fit all our needs in Jan 2015 though....it will be my first non-club trip, but I think adding deluxe dining will help offset me missing my beloved CL!
Even though the DH wants to stay at the WL I remembered something while I was knitting. I thought someone on the AKL thread said that all of the AKL CL rooms were all Arusha view rooms, and I think it priced cheaper than the WL. Which just confused me even more.

I keep telling myself that this too will pass and is just temporary. That I shouldn't pop their heads off like Pez dispensers.

I do love the WL!! Luckily, the door stopped what ever it was doing. Something is just messing with my head.

This is either a good sign that you're feeling better or that you're as stubborn as a mule and are going out to the mall despite feeling blah. Hope its the former. Love that you're bringing your coupons. I always tell DD that anyone can pay full price, but it's a lot better not to. She cuts out coupons from magazines and gives them to me to buy her make-up

Is the septic system dead due to the power outage zapping the electrical system? Sorry if I missed your explanation. That is not a fun expenditure - it's like having to put on a new roof or windows - a necessity, but not exciting.

I think your statement that you and DD "breezed through the teen years" is the first time that statement has ever been made in the history of moms Vs. teen girls.

There was no central air or heat on, but there was a fan on in the room. However if it was the fan, I would think it would have spun the same direction each time. Now the door is acting funny. The DH shut it when he left for work. Movement by the door caught my eye, and I looked to find the door barely open and gently bouncing. I got up, shut the door, made sure it was shut good, and went back to my laptop on the bed. A few minutes later, the door was open and bouncing again. I had this happen a total of three times. Again, there is no central air or heat on. Maybe all this confusion about being able to pick a resort has made me lose my mind.
Have they recently installed a new railroad next to the house?

Thank you for the sage advice. It's so worrisome though when you're in the throes of it and you don't know how the story ends, KWIM? You worry that every little problem might just be the one that will turn into something bigger someday. Oh, how I wish I could have a crystal ball so I wouldn't worry so much - and I only have one child! I have no idea how you crazy people (you know who you are) with all these kids do it not worrying yourself nuts - you guys are amazing

Nope, there is one not too far from here, but it's been there as long as I can remember. The in laws have only lived in this house for about 15 yr, but I have lived in the area all my life. I'm starting to think it's just the DH's family. The house his parents were living in when we met through first being married was off too. Things would move when there was no explanation for them moving, you would see shadow figures, DH's niece would talk about playing with another child in the house when she was the only child. Then the room I slept in, people (including myself) talked about having their toes squeezed, picked up off the bed, and wiggled. Like someone was trying to wake you up by doing it, but no one would be there when you woke up mid toe wiggling.

I need to go buy two for our DSs. They do keep life interesting though, don't they? I'm just happy I have a 15 yr old boy that still loves spending time with me. Everyday when he gets home from school, he comes in my room, takes his shoes off, lays on DH's side of the bed, grabs my arm, wraps it around him, and says "Mommy-Moose snuggle time". He frustrated the grey hairs onto my head sometimes, but he is a big sweetie.

Thanks, Kook. DS sounds glad the weekend is here. They've upped the fatalities to three.
Casper is such a nice, small town, it's hard to believe something like this could happen there. I know when bizarre tragedy strikes, most say that, don't they?
Hubster and I are going out to dinner, time to relax.

Good to know for the future. Thanks! It actually wasn't too painful on the second attempt. I was pleased to find that I am the proud owner of an Orbitz file to go along with my WDTC file.

Um, well, I was going to multi-quote, but you all get so chatty sometimes

Last load of laundry is in, all the beds have clean sheets, and I am mostly packed. Even went to the gas station after picking up the kids and filled up. We are just about ready to go

Jeanette - sounds like you are on the mommy crazy train too, HUGS!! You know I'll be stopping in over the weekend to see where you are landing

i_heart - I am a notorious over packer, so right now we all have two outfits for the day, warm weather and cool weather, LOL! Plus bathing suits, extras, etc. so nope, no room for you to sneak in I totally know what you mean regarding DS6. You have to follow your gut when it comes to your kids. I think you will be happy when you know exactly what is going on. I never gave up and even though I didn't necessarily want the labels, like you, I wanted to know how to help them best. Did you get the dis res # from Orbitz again?

Letthewookiein - your DS sounds a lot like mine, his grades are weak in reading and writing but the funny thing is like your DS I hear him read words that blow my mind, and he loves to write stories about his passions. And he can talk your ear off about any thing he is interested in. You were 100% right to push and get him to the neurologist. Moms always know best!!!!!

Marie - I am PETRIFIED of DD's teen years!!!! I hope you have a great weekend and can rest a bit!

Linda - good for your DS for turning himself around!!!! GW is a great school! My DS19 is finally at the turning point and has his sights on law school as well.

Miss - LMAO, you know I had a visual of you with a shock collar in the dollar section!!!!!

Candace - I have been out of the work force for a while but I can tell you the people on DH's office have no problems coming to him to ask for a raise. It sounds like you have all the right reasons to ask for it. Go for it!!!!!

Ginny - what is it with college campuses lately? I am happy to hear DS is safe!

KOOK - I just looked back to what I wrote to wookie and cracked up. Seeing it alone is quite funny!

Well 24 hours from now we should have been to Epcot had lunch at Via Napoli, and be on our way back from stopping at GF to check out the ginger bread house and heading towards the atrium lounge for some snacks
