Good morning ladies! Thank you once again for the support yesterday Some days are just harder than other with the two little ones. DD is extremely defiant and then she sets of DS9, so it is a just a vicious cycle that ends up with them both yelling at me and me feeling completely defeated But today is a new day and it is packing day

Jen – yes we do take a lot of blows from our kiddos, I am sorry you had a rough day with DD6 too. Sometimes a good cry is exactly what we need HUGS my friend

I_heart – thank you

Candace – UGH, what is it with these girls I don’t understand the drama. They are totally possessed! DH tells people that DD is the antichrist We tease that her mean streak is because she has the same birthday as Hitler I am sorry you had to go through all that with DD, but it does make me feel a little better to know I am not the only one with a demonic little girl

Ginny – thank you

Miss – I was so happy DS wasn’t on campus during the invasion, I just wish he had been home when DD let loose so I could have walked away for a bit and not gotten so

Letthewookiein and Marie – Oh I have been there with DS19, he went through middle school in all advanced classes and did great the first two years of high school, but his junior year he just didn’t seem to care and really messed up his GPA and subsequently choices for college. I was always asking if he had homework or tests to study for and I always got the response no. BOYS Hang in there ladies, it does eventually get better

Marie – I wish DD was a teen and then at least her attitude would be more expected, but she is only 7 ˝

Christine – I totally agree, when did all the nut jobs go free? I just heard on the news that they never caught the intruder yesterday, so he is still free He held a gun to a girls head in one of the university buildings, stole her possessions, and ran. Who in their right mind does that??? And with all the school shootings over the past few years the university took it very seriously and locked the whole campus down to ensure students safety.

Letthewookiein – OH I LOVE the idea of Frankenstein resorts That would really make life so much easier, wouldn’t it

Janet - I am finally getting excited, actually need to pull out the suitcases and get organized while the kiddos are at school

Sarah – YUCK on the new septic system, that doesn’t sound like a very good Christmas present I hope you are feeling well today

Jeanette – what is the verdict? Are you booked at YC CL now

Okay all the beds and sheets are calling my name, so much fun

I hope everyone has a great Friday and thanks again for all the support

Melissa

LMAO, that so has to be it!!!!!

--------

Okay, the weather for the weekend is gorgeous, but going to complicate my packing. High 70's during the day so I am thinking shorts, but in the 50's at night, so sweats. This doubles what I normally pack, grrrrr.

Good morning and Happy Friday

babyberger, sorry you are having a tough time with your daughter. Hopefully you can put it all behind you and have a great time this weekend, after all...You are going to WDW!!!

i heart, you have struggled with the first few days of you trip, but it sounds like the YC is perfect for the end! Glad you are excited! Plus Miss will be at the same resort

janet, you are welcome to join me on the "chicken bench" any time! Now, TSMania, that's a different story (haha), I am so there!

jenny, sorry you had a tough day with your middle DD. Daughters are wonderful, but so unpredictable. MY older DD and I got into it when she was little, but we breezed through the teenage years.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Tomorrow is December , I am off to the mall armed with coupons. Wish me luck!

Good morning and Happy Lovely Friday! We made it...

Sarah: Oh yuck about the septic system. Was it due to storm damage at all... can insurance help with it at all or is it not covered? Dealing with insurance in those sorts of situations must be a total nightmare or a fruitless task. How're you feeling? I'm going to repeat what you typed and make it my mantra for the coming years: "MY older DD and I got into it when she was little, but we breezed through the teenage years." I hope this is true for us!

Janet: That Ron Weasley sure does get around, doesn't he? Apparates at all the different Y's for his torture sessions.

Melissa: This is what I'm doing for you right now:

---------------

Hope all us mommies can have a Friday off from torment... or at least a temporary break in the 'festivities'

What's on the weekend agenda, folks? Well, we know what some of us will be doing...

Hang in there!

I always enjoy the RC thread. What a nice group of ladies!
With my DSs it's not just homework they think is a vague suggestion, but taking daily showers and brushing their teeth in the morning and before bed.

I'm really starting to think it wasn't the terrible two's (or three's) that were the hard part, but the terrible teens.

Thanks Luckily other than the homework, being a rear to wake up in the morning, and trying to get out of showering and brushing his teeth, I don't have any trouble with him. He's my easy one. Our youngest was misdiagnosed with ADHD at 5, and then diagnosed at 9 (or maybe it was 10) with mild Autism Spectrum Disorder and having petite mal seizure. Before we got another diagnosis, we tried different medications, dosages, and even name brand vs generic. There were days that he literally threw anything not nailed down at a teacher or other class mates, including desks. I actually lost a good paying job b/c I was either late to work b/c of a meltdown from him, or had to leave work early b/c of his behavior at school or daycare. He's in a different school now, and he is so much better.

I don't know why I thought of this when I read your post. Our youngest DS was born on Elvis' birthday. Which was odd for me considering I was terrified of Elvis as a child. I can remember being very young and my mom playing Elvis on her record player really loud. I remember the walls shaking from it being so loud, but I'm sure that is just the imagination of a child. I would be so scared that I would hide under my bed.

Good morning to you and Happy Friday!!

Don't remind me about December. We haven't even started thinking about what to do for the DSs for Christmas. Although I am thinking about giving them the tv we have that is just sitting around not being used.

ok, so I promise I'm not crazy, but this room is starting to creep me out. I don't know if y'all know, but we moved in with the inlaws a few years ago. The mil had pulmonary embolisms that should have killed her. The doctors wanted to release her from the hospital into a nursing home to make sure she had 24 hour care. Instead of letting that happen we moved in. Then she had more health issues after that. Just about when we were thinking of moving out, the fil had blood clots in both his lungs. Then he had to have back surgery, and actually had to have a 2nd emergency one the day we left for WDW this last June. Since their health isn't improving that much, we still live with them. During the day, I stay in the bedroom the DH and I sleep in, unless the inlaws need me. The other morning I noticed the ceiling fan acting funny. It wasn't turned on, but the blades would rock back and forth and slowly spin one way, stop, rock back and forth and spin the other way. There was no central air or heat on, but there was a fan on in the room. However if it was the fan, I would think it would have spun the same direction each time. Now the door is acting funny. The DH shut it when he left for work. Movement by the door caught my eye, and I looked to find the door barely open and gently bouncing. I got up, shut the door, made sure it was shut good, and went back to my laptop on the bed. A few minutes later, the door was open and bouncing again. I had this happen a total of three times. Again, there is no central air or heat on. Maybe all this confusion about being able to pick a resort has made me lose my mind.

Oh and I finally literally beat out of my DH which resort he wants. When I would ask him last night where he wanted to stay, he kept saying "You know me Kim, I just care about the money." Then I would say (and with each word punching him in the arm) That is not helping. Which resort do you want to stay at?" After a few times of that, he said somewhere with comfy beds and not a shoebox bathroom. I was like, "ok you want a deluxe. Now, which deluxe." After a few more rounds of the arm punching, he finally settled on the Swan, but then I told him that wouldn't work since you can't do the DDP at the Swan. When he finally picked, he picked the WL. He liked when we stayed there that everything was under one roof, the walk to the boats wasn't bad and neither was the walk to the buses. I would love to stay CL, but I doubt it would be included in any discounts.

Yeah the past two trips were much easier to lack for. I am going to need a second suitcase which is ridiculous for a weekend trip.

Friday definitely needs to be a break in the "festivities" otherwise I may end up in a mental institute this weekend instead of WDW What are your plans for the weekend?

Okay, first, WL, woohoo!!!! So glad you finally got that figured out!!!!! Second I totally understand what you have been through with your younger DS. My oldest DS is my easy one too. We knew DS9 had something wrong when he was 3, but of course it is too early diagnose at that age and at 4 a psychologist told us that he was brilliant but in his own world. As the years went on I knew in my heart it was Asperger's Syndrome (on the autism spectrum) and sure enough he finally got that diagnosis when he was 6. DD has always been difficult and I always suspected she had ADHD but her preschool teachers kept telling me no way, well that was just her anxiety keeping her quiet at school. Her first grade teacher knew right away that she had ADHD and I finally felt like I wasn't loosing my mind. We expected the official diagnosis to be ADHD, but we were so lucky to also have her diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and oppositional defiance disorder on top of combined type ADHD!! I swear my life is a swirling world of acronyms, LOL!!!

And OH MY about the funky happenings in your bedroom, EEK!!!!!

$26/nt for breakfast, snacks and drinks for 7 sounds like a steal to me! Plus SAB in the summer afternoons with Epcot evenings.... But no castle nearby that is the downside for me.
The castle...exactly...and the YC doesn't get me all choked up like the Grand (it's a beautiful place) but I think it's because there is no castle

Pas, can't believe you are considering RCing from the Grand....unless this will be taking us on a monorail circuit, changing trains and then hopping the MK back again .... whatever it will be, we'll be along for the ride!!

P.S. so happy our princess Bree is feeling better!
I am a wreck over this! Today Kate had a dental procedure and she is so sore....so when I mentioned YC/BC to the girls...of course they all want a snack room...of course they do!

My DS11 is having the same kinda year, and we've never had issues...adolescence....ugh

Oh I've got two girls like that..most of the time the act up independently...but lately they've all hit their moods together including DS11...which has me very close (and DH as well) to the breaking point

Me too, so true

[QUOTE=jennyjinx3;46819770 I can totally relate, I had such a day with my DD6 yesterday. I ended up crying myself a few times after they were all at school. It is so hard being a parent, and a mom to boot. We seem to take a lot of the blows from the kiddos. [/QUOTE]Maybe it's something with the year 2006

Trying from memory so I'm expecting a huge fail, but whatevs... It's Friday.

Babyberger - 2 suitcases for a weekend? Holy Moly! What are you packing, and more importantly, is there room for me?

My DS6 is "that kid" for me. Aye Carumba. One minute he is an angel, the next a demon child with no apparent provocation. I have an appt with a dev ped in Feb for a full eval. I adore my regular ped, but he has blown me off too many times regarding DSs issues. He is old school and "hates labels". I just want to kow what I'm really dealing with so I can be the best mom I can for him. KWIM?

pas - I think you should sit tight with GF while you ponder. I have noticed that YC is always seems to be the last to sell out especially CL.

Jungle Cruiser - Sorry about the septic system. What a bummer!

Letthewookiein - Franken-resort? I dunno. I think that means to RC you have to get into grand scale refurbs. That could get pretty spendy quickly

Sorry about your room. Perhaps my internet hex went awry. I stink at cursing things.

Miss - I think I'll do some stocking stuffer shopping. I always forget about that and usually run myself crazy two days before Christmas trying to put things together. Digging through what's left of the Christmas candy trying to find something other than those little pooping reindeer (who buys those anyway???)

Well, time is up for me to decide what to do. My orbitz 15% off code expires today and I also need enough time for the correct ME tags to get here. I'm still booked at the Poly but the bottom line is that I can't afford to upgrade to AP's if I keep it. That may mean no summer trip, I don't know for sure. The kids have been asking to go somewhere else anyway, so maybe now is the time to go back to one annual trip.

The only choices I have to save any real money are POR, AOA and the cabins. I am not feeling any of those choices.

Hmmmmm...

I am going to WDW and not even DD can take away that magic Have fun at the mall, I hope you find some great deals!!!!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
For while I thought I was losing my mind. Then one day I watched Oprah, which was odd b/c I usually didn't do it. Jenny McCarthy and Holly Robinson Peete were on it. They were talking about their children that had Autism. Jenny kept saying that a mother knows when something is wrong and to just follow their heart on what they feel is best. My mil (a nurse) had been saying since he was a baby that she thought something was wrong, but my DH blew it off as her being "doom and gloom", which she tends to be. After I saw the Oprah, I called his pedi and asked for the number of a neurologist they suggested. They asked why, said they would talk to the doctor, and call me back. When they did, the doctor said that he refused to give me the name of a neurologist and wanted to try a different medication. I refused and said that if they wouldn't give me the number to one, I would call my insurance and just find one that way. My DH kept telling me I was "grasping at straws", but I said that I would grasp at every straw until I found out what was really going on with him. The DH still didn't believe the diagnosis, until he came to an appt with us and the neurologist did a hyperventilation test on the DS and he had a petite mal seizure big enough for us to notice it.

Our main problem with his learning is that he doesn't put the effort into it, it's not that he doesn't understand or can't do it. He's behind on his reading, but I know he can read way better than he shows the teachers. We've caught him reading things he acts like he can't, when he doesn't think anyone is around. Heck by the first grade, he was talking about DNA, how to collect it, and where to collect it in order to clone someone. Oh, and also the time space continuum. The way he talked about both, he totally understood what he was talking about and not just regurgitating something he had seen on tv.

I think we can agree then, that one of the ingredients to the perfect WDW is SAB.

I'm beginning to think Mark Twain was right about teenagers. He supposedly advised parents that "when a child turns 13, his parents should put him in a barrel, close the lid, and feed him through a hole in the side. Then, when he turns 16, plug up the hole."

I hope it is. This is the last WDW trip for us for a while, so I want to make it super special. The DH wants to do some non-Disney things, and I promised we would. I just would love to see the new Fantasyland while it is still new. In 2014, he wants to do a cruise. I want it to be small, so we can save money for a big vacation in 2015. That will be our 20th year wedding anniversary and I want to do something big. Maybe like London/Paris.

Melissa It's a new day! Hope DD comes to her senses....she's going to WDW after all! and 7 yr olds should LOVE the mouse's house!!! Hope her Diva dies and she gets on board with you with some happiness instead of grouchiness! Whew, if she's giving you that hard of a time at 7, you've got your hands full for another 12 yrs my friend!!! but we'll be here to help you through it -- to listen and support, that's what friends are for

Wookie: whoever said the terrible twos where the hardest, hadn't obviously hit the teen yrs yet!!! I truly would go back and deal with the little problems of my baby boy before the attitude of my teen boy!! I so understand the hygeine thing too....allthough , thankfully once he got a girlfriend, it got better!! Getting him up and moving in the AM is becoming a little less of a chore this yr. too, I think that's just because he doesn't want to walk in minus 20 degree celcius weather to school, and he knows if he's not up and in the car by 7:30, my work comes first and I'll drive away without him if need be!!! He hasn't tested me yet, so that's good.

YAY! for WL.....that sounds wonderful!!! I think I would like to try staying there one time too.....along with my wish to try BWI still --- It has such a nice feel, and the boat to MK is quaint and a nice option..... I love AKL, so I am sure we'd love the other lodge
I think Kidani is still the resort that will fit all our needs in Jan 2015 though....it will be my first non-club trip, but I think adding deluxe dining will help offset me missing my beloved CL!

PAS -- I say YC CL I think location is great and your girls love CL as much as I do! I can't imagine not having CL (unless as I stated above I had Deluxe Dining to offset it) ..... but still, I will be pining away without it, I am sooooo a CL gal!
Hope your work goes smoothly over the next few days and you get a much needed break soon!! You are wonder woman, I swear!

Happy Friday to all my RCer friends! I am sooooo glad Friday is finally here!!!

To All The RC Mamas

My heart goes out to all of you .... raising children is the hardest job but also the best and most rewarding. Both DS and DD drove me crazy in their own special ways! DS was a real challenge in high school. As an example on the night before graduation we all sat by the phone waiting for a call from his English teacher ... my wonderful son needed at least a 95% on his advanced placement English class to pass it and he had to pass it to have enough credits to graduate! Lucky for him it was an oral presentation and he got a grade of 100%. This kid could talk his way through and out of anything!!! He walked off the stage at graduation and up to us and told us now he would get serious about life ... he just wanted to have fun in high school! Bad grades = 2 years at community college, transfer to Cal and then law school at George Washington ... see I told you he could talk!!!

My point in that story is that there is an end in sight and it's all worth it .... if of course you don't explode first!!! Chin up and carry on all you wonderful RC moms!!!

I just got back from spending $66 in Target's dollar section. Well, slightly under $63 with my Red Card discount -- that matters, right? I need one of those collars like they put on dogs whose yards have the Invisible Fence. It needs to zap me every time I get near that overly-enticing part of the store. On second thought, my willpower is so weak and determination to get tchotchkes so strong ... they could set it on stun and it might not stop me.

Jeanette: Yay, glad the conferences went well! Ah, boo to crazy work schedules... you are a saint.

Wookiee: YEEEEEEAAH for WL! Not-so-yeeeeeah for haunted rooms... I'm hearing the Twilight Zone theme in my head now.

Candace: I agree about packing the least amount of clothes as possible. This Jan. thing will be a total shock to the system. I'm not going to know what to pack.

Melissa: You know how "There's No Crying in Baseball"? ... well "There's No Mental Institutes at Disney." Wine and Disney... or was that Vodka? Can't wait to hear how it goes.

I_Heart: We anxiously await your news. You'll be happy to know that the $66 worth of junk did not include a Reindeer Poop keychain. (I should probably not mention -- but I will anyway -- that during one visit to Vermont, I bought my hubs a magnet of a moose head made out of shellacked moose-poop. )

Heya Marie! Getting closer to January and your new co-worker!

This took so long to write I'm sure I'll have missed at least a good helping of replies.

OMG. Just spent 20 agonizing minutes chatting with someone from Orbitz to get my Disney confirmation number. Finally she stops throwing random weird numbers at me and gets me a nice 12 digit number beginning with a 4. This is it! My Disney number! Finally. So what do I do? I say thank you, and then close the chat window before writing down the number.
