Not sure if this has been posted but Disney addressed some concerns yesterday. They said most of the same treats will still be available at the bakery/Starbucks. The cinnamon rolls are available at gastons and the ice cream sandwiches will be at the plaza ice cream shop and sleepy hollow. YAY!

So maybe this will put most of us at ease now. same treats, different look with better coffee. its not the best coffee around but it will do. Plus, it will be nice to be able to get a fancy coffee for a change. something Disney really needed.

While it is not closing and it will have several of their baked "goodies" there, I just personally prefer them not to change it at all. I like my tradition of my cinnamon roll there with my family before we start our day, but now it's in gaston's tavern. Not nearly as convenient. I know everyone doesn't feel this way, but that's ok. We are all entitled to either be happy, sad, or whatever it may be. I just thought it was good the way it was... however, the french toast loaf would've been great to have back.

To me Main Street Bakery is to MK as Fenway is to Boston. I really hate to see it change in anyway even if it does bring in a popular coffee.

Lol. I agree with you. But when im desperate and there's nothing else, i will drink it. Their specialty drinks are a tad better than their brewed coffee. So is the Americano. Its half decent.

But the lattes are so milky, not much coffee taste in there. I ask for a double shot.

Hopefully they'll get fresh pastries with the Starbucks.
Yummy - never had a bad ooey-gooey cinnamon roll there yet! Every trip at least 2-3 times we have them and they have all been moist and delicious. None of our other purchases there have been stale either - you must have really caught an off day!

I dont think the exact date is published anywhere, closest I can find says Jan. 2013- late summer 2013. Wow that seems like a long time--it must be an extensive reno.

I agree..MSB is OK, but I don't quite get all the worship of the place. I think it's just the concept of change that many people can't handle. Throw in a little dash of drama..and presto! You have this thread and the dozens more just like it.

I don't understand the shock, but MOSTLY understand the outrage. This IS commercialism at its finest, but we're talking about Disney here! They'll slap a princess on just about everything, and people (including myself) will buy it. The idea of Main Street isn't going anywhere, it's just adapting to what "Main Street" is in the rest of America. So many small towns I come across will have a Starbucks somewhere on a corner.

I could just be real jacked up on caffeine (drinking the Starbucks kool-aid at the moment with my venti iced passion tea), but I don't think it's anything terrible.

It's not going to cease to exist, they're going to renovate the interior (so yes, it will be closed for awhile) and sell Starbucks coffee and specialty beverages. The name will not change, the exterior will not change, they will still sell some of the Disney baked goods (although since they haven't said which ones, it still may be that your favorite won't be there).

I guess it's all those years of guests clamoring for different coffee than Nescafe. Like those of us who used to frequent Pleasure Island, probably if you asked us "would we like more shopping and dining and entertainment at DTD" we would have said "sure" without realizing they meant to close the clubs and bring in third parties to add it.

Many feel that way for whatever reason (I don't - I don't find the place all that fabulous, even as a bakery), but what's done is done...it's going to happen.

I don't think it's the concept of change. Nobody is screaming about the Fountain View changing. For whatever reason, there is a lot more emotional attachment to the bakery. As for corporate sponsorship, I can think of three corporate sponsor logos currently displayed on Main Street. It's nothing new or different.
